Our Wedding

Derrell Dixon a Baltimore native moved to Durham in early 2020. After a year of sheer boredom, one cold spring night in April 2021, he stumbled into "the most amazing creature to grace the face of the earth", Zylvia Lawson, a Durham native or farmer (as Derrell always says) who instantly sparked an instant interest within Derrell. Zylvia fell in love with her gentle giant, whose energy is just a large as his stature. After their first "lovers spat" Derrell fell hard for Zylvia's outspoken free sprit and whose energy match his on every level. Unexpectedly, their chance encounter over a Pickle Back led to a kismet connection. An effortless balance was forged; the yin and yang, the calm in the storm, the voice of reason in chaos, the planner before "just wing it", the zig to the zag, the sane to insane, the consistent to the erratic. They both found the harmony they had been longing for and and that they both had decided did not exist. Although 2 years, has turned into a mini lifetime of joys, adversities and accomplishments on this rollercoaster of life we happily and joyfully ride together. Derrell is now the proud father of five beautiful children Derrell Jr, Amaya, Nevaeh, Amari and Zizi Monroe. The village that is our "blended family' lovingly provides the support and nurturing needed to give us the space to love and receive love more at the same time.
