Abby and Josh met in 2019 as freshmen at the University of Cincinnati. Initially spending time with each other through a mutual friend, over the next two years they grew to be close friends themselves. Often, Abby could be caught napping in Josh's dorm-room bed while he did homework.

In August 2021, Abby and Josh started dating. They lived in neighboring apartments for two years, before moving to an old house in Bellevue, KY together in 2023. They adopted a puppy, Nessie, that same summer. While on a trip to Traverse City in August 2025, Josh proposed to Abby.
