Jackson and Abby met in a U.S. Presidency class at the University of Georgia, spring semester of 2015. Abby sat next to Jackson's friend, Meredith, on the first day of class. After class, Jackson asked Meredith to tell him more about Abby. According to Jackson, he knew right then, he was going to date that girl, one day.

Once the first exam came, Abby sent an email to the entire class, saying she had a study room at the learning center and offered for others to come study as a group. It didn’t take Jackson long to get to the learning center that afternoon.

Somehow, he even left with her number… for study purposes he reassured. They then studied for exams together and eventually enrolled in more classes together. They became great friends, and attended each other’s fraternity and sorority events.

Then, halfway through junior year, the duo start dating. They dated throughout senior year, and celebrated graduation together. They then both headed from Athens to Macon, Georgia. Abby had her first position as a TV news reporter at 13 WMAZ, and Jackson began law school. After a while, Abby was offered a position in a bigger news market in Knoxville, Tennessee, at WVLT (Ch. 8).

Through law school and news market jumps, the pair managed long distance dating as best they could. They drove for hours between Macon and Knoxville, and then between Atlanta and Knoxville. They then both finally found themselves in their dream jobs, both in Atlanta! They were ready to conquer their careers, and also ready to take the next step.

Jackson proposed to Abby on April 13th, 2024, in the Founders Garden on the north campus at the University of Georgia. Jackson first suggested they go on a walk around campus, it being the day of the G-day Spring Game, to get a glance at the stadium. They then ended up along a route they used to take to class together, once upon a time. This nostalgia-filled route ended right in the Founders Garden, where Jackson proposed. They then took photos in all their other old stomping grounds, and began the celebrating, as well as the planning.

Now, Jackson and Abby’s fur baby, Maverick, was confused by the whole thing, at first. He may have lived with Jackson during some of the long-distance points, but he thought Abby was his Mom all along! Nonetheless, tying the knot has been explained to the pup. He is thrilled and excited to be the ring bearer on the big day, and to see all the guests.

Abby and Jackson are so excited to be able to celebrate their big day with so many of those they love, and they can’t wait to see all their wonderful guests!
