Abby and Ty met the modern way: by swiping right on Tinder (swoon!) in January 2022. Abby was completing her 4th year of her Ph.D. at the time, and Ty was in his 3rd year working as a software engineer. Their first date was planned after only 3 days of texting and getting to know each other because, in Abbys words, she was busy and needed to know if he was worth her time. Ty planned their first date with two of Abbys favorites- tacos and margaritas and knew he was in love within two hours of meeting Abby.
Abby fell in love with Ty over the many hobbies he introduced her to. The couple spent many weekends rock wall climbing, throwing darts, playing board games, and toodling (window shopping) around Phoenix.
Ty proposed to Abby a week after she graduated from ASU with her Ph.D. Abby thought she was going on a cruise to celebrate her graduation, but Ty had a proposal plan all along. Ty got down on one knee during a sunset walk to the back of the ship and Abby said yes!
Most recently, Ty and Abby made the big decision to move to Iowa a couple months after the wedding. Abby will begin a new job as a mathematics professor at Central College in August 2024 and Ty will continue working remotely as a software engineer. Abby and Ty hope you can join them as they say I do at their Arizona wedding in April!
