We first noticed each other while we were both students at Catawba College—passing glances and shared spaces. But it wasn’t until a couple of years later, once Jacob had graduated and I was in my senior year, that we actually met for the first time.In August 2020, Jacob came back to Salisbury to take me out on our first date. I was so nervous I almost canceled. Thankfully, my college friends wouldn’t let me. They walked me to the door and literally pushed me outside—then watched from the window as I made my way to his car.We both admitted to being nervous that day, but we kept talking anyway. Then, before we ate, Jacob prayed—and I’d never had that happen on a date before. I loved it. I called my mom afterward to tell her, and she said, “Well, he was laying it on thick.” It made me laugh, but the truth is—that’s just genuinely who he is.Since then, we’ve spent four amazing years getting to know each other, falling more in love with every conversation. Our favorite thing to do together has always been just sitting on the front porch—where we talk, laugh, and dream about everything the future might hold.In November 2024, after a trip to Hot Springs, Virginia, we came home just in time for the holidays. It was there, by our Christmas tree, that Jacob asked me to marry him. Just the two of us, in our favorite place—home.Now, we’re getting ready to start this next chapter, full of love, laughter, and one day, a family of our own. We can’t wait to spend forever together.
