Our Wedding

A line cook and waitress meet. Abby and Ray met six years ago while working at Tazza Kitchen. Ray had recently moved down from Connecticut with his family, and Abby had just returned to Raleigh after graduating from App State. After hosting many late night parties at Ray and Christian’s apartment, Jordan and Abby figured they should get a place at the same complex. It was near their friends and work, so it seemed like a logical choice. After Abby started her new big girl job and Covid forced everyone at Tazza to go their separate ways, Abby and Ray lost touch for a bit. They bumped into each other nearly a year later at the Village (RIP) while they were out with friends they bumped into each other. That night out led to more nights out, leading to some nights in, leading to spending most of their free time together. Living at the same apartment complex and working remotely allowed them to be together nearly constantly. They quickly integrated into each others lives--Ray loved spending time with Brady, and Abby loved having Ray around her colleagues, friends, and family (and Brady). They both loved their lazy days at the complex pool. Everything was so easy! Abby fell in love with Ray’s easy-going demeanor and his steadfast support for her physically, mentally, and emotionally. Ray would offer to cook chicken parm after Abby had a long day. When Abby was having a tough time with work or relationships, Ray was there to listen to her frustrations and offer a joke here and there to lighten the mood. Conversations flowed so easily between them, and it was natural for Abby to open up to him, get vulnerable, and become the truest version of herself. One of the first things Ray noticed about Abby was her sense of humor—the way she could make him laugh and feel comfortable in situations he normally wouldn’t. He saw her drive and determination, which motivated him to experience more with her and independently. He fell in love with how much Abby cares for those she loves. Whether it’s himself, her sisters, or the love she shows her pets; it’s inspired Ray to become a more caring, compassionate man. A little over two years into the relationship, Abby and Ray visited Asheville, the place they spent their first weekend away together. Ray proposed on the Sunset Terrace at the Grove Park Inn, one of Abby’s favorite places in Asheville for its beautiful views and haunted history.

We’ve reserved a large table at Lynnwood Brewing Concern for a casual welcome gathering the night before our wedding. Grab a drink and catch up with the bride and groom before the celebrations begin. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the brewery. We can’t wait to see you there!

Abby and Ray love taking Brady on walks out on the trails here or viewing the permanent and temporary exhibits. They also have a surprisingly tasty coffee shop right outside the exhibits.

350+ taps! The North Carolina bar on the first floor features 144 NC draft taps and the “International” floor offers 222 varieties from the rest of the country and the rest of the world. The rooftop bar features 12 rotating taps, and Abby and Ray shared their first NYE kiss up there!

Raleigh Beer Garden

Located at Raleigh Ironworks, Bolera offers a range of games from duckpin bowling to darts to karaoke. Food is made by a former Top Chef competitor and is described as a crossroads between Southern cuisine and Mexican flavor. You can also visit other restaurants and shops in Ironworks like Scott Crawford’s latest restaurant, Brodeto, or the new Ponysaurus taproom.

AMAZING Sunday brunch—one of our favorites. Abby and Ray made it official here and we also took our engagement photos around this area. There are a lot of classy cocktail bars nearby if you opt for dinner instead of brunch.
