Welcome to the Lowcountry

What does Kiawah mean to us?

Kiawah Island has held a special place in Abbey's heart since she was just three years old, when her family began vacationing to this hidden gem. From owning a condo in 2001 to becoming homeowners and residents of the island, the Meyers' love for Kiawah grew deeper with each passing year. Between the countless sunrises and sunsets, golf rounds, beach days, bike rides, sandcastles and dips in the ocean, Kiawah became Abbey's sanctuary. She was ecstatic to share her home away from home with John and make new memories together that they would cherish forever. A few memories to note include the 100 degree golf round at The Ocean Course, where John stepped on a snake but managed to par-out. The bride and groom also hold the annual Fourth of July "liquor dive" near and dear to their hearts, where they compete with hundreds of others for shooters and beer dropped into the pool at the Beach Club. Abbey and John's favorite memory will surely be May 16th, 2026 when they officially become husband and wife!

Am I required to book through the Kiawah Island Golf Resort?

Although it is not a requirement to book through the resort, it is highly recommended. Booking through the resort allows you complimentary access to on-demand transportation (available until 11pm), on-island pools, discount opportunities for tee-times, and so much more!

What are the discounted golf rates?

If you are staying through Kiawah Island Golf Resort (KIGR) or The Sanctuary, the discounted golf rates are as follows: Oak Point: $245, Cougar Point: $245, Turtle Point: $245, Osprey Point: $245, and The Ocean Course: $475. May 2026 tee times are available to book now!

Transportation

Do I need to rent a car?

Yes! We highly recommend renting a car to get to the venue and explore all that Kiawah Island has to offer. Public transportation (Uber, Lyft, etc) is available to get from the airport to the island, however, there is NO access to public transportation once you arrive on the island.

What airport should I fly into?

If you are flying to our wedding we recommend flying into Charleston International Airport (CHS). From here you can either rent a car or order a ride share pickup like Uber to drive you out to Kiawah. The drive is about 45 minutes. Please note, once out at Kiawah, there are no ride shares or Ubers.

Is transportation provided once I arrive to the resort?

If you are staying through Kiawah Island Golf Resort (KIGR) or The Sanctuary, you may utilize the on-demand shuttles by calling 843-768-2900. Please allow 30-45 minutes for service. Again, once out at Kiawah there are no ride shares or Ubers. Roundtrip transportation to the ceremony will be provided. Please see the "Transportation" tab for a detailed transportation schedule.
