Visit Casco antiguo

Casco Antiguo is the historic district of Panama.

You can wander the streets during the day, visit the Panama Canal Museum for free, or visit the magnificent Iglesia de San José. There are great dining options, coffee shops, and bars.

Tour Ruins of Panama Viejo

Guna Yala Adventure

Guna Yala is located on the Caribbean side of Panama and is home to the indigenous people known as the Gunas. Their territory includes 365 islands of which 36 are inhabited.


This is a 15-hour day trip, starting at 5 am. A 4x4 SUV picks you up in the city and takes you on a 2 hour drive over the mountains to the coast where you'll transfer to a small boat. This boat will then tour multiple beautiful islands over the span of a day.



The tour is roughly 120 USD, and includes lunch. Here is the breakdown of the tour costs:

Panama Canal Locks - Miraflores Visitor Center

The Miraflores visitor center is located 30 min away from the city. Please keep in mind there is a schedule in which ships cross, which is from 8:00am to 1:00pm.


The tickets for non-residents are 17 usd.

Hike the Metropolitan Park

Right in the heart of Panama City sits a 573-acre park known as Metropolitan Natural Park. Despite being close to a city, the park is also home to 227 bird species, 45 mammals, 36 kinds of snakes, and 14 kinds of amphibians. In addition, there are about 284 plant species, including trees that reach between 100 and 115 feet high.


You can get an Uber here for 5-10 USD, and the entrance fee for non-residents is 4 USD. Bring cash.

Visit Taboga Island

Isla Taboga, or the Island of Flowers, is a beautiful volcanic island located just 20 kilometers from Panama City, making it a great one-day getaway trip.


Hike to one of Isla Taboga’s highest points, Cerro Vigia or Cerro de la Cruz. Explore the colorful and historic Spanish-founded town, which is also home to the second oldest church in the Western hemisphere. Then relax on one of the beaches, or grab a drink at one of the quaint beach bars nearby.


Getting There:

Daily ferries are available from Panama City to Taboga Island, and most of them depart from the Amador Causeway. The ferry takes just 30 minutes, and once you get to the island, you’ll be able to get around on foot. The ferry costs $24 USD.
