You will pass the Conservation Center about an hour out of Anchorage. It is a very cool spot to see and learn about Alaska wildlife!

Girdwood

Picture of Girdwood

Girdwood— it is located 45 minutes south of Anchorage. You will pass the turn off for Girdwood on your way to Soldotna. Alyeska Ski Resort is located here and you can take a beautiful ride up the mountain on the tram or visit the Nordic spa. Virgin Creek Falls is a short (0.5 mile) hike to a waterfall. The Girdwood Brewing Company is a fun stop too.

Whittier

Picture of Whittier

Whittier— weird weird Whittier is also a cool stop if you have the time. It is about an hour and fifteen minutes south of Anchorage, you will pass the turn off for Whittier right after Girdwood. To get to Whittier you have to go through the 2.5 mile, one-lane tunnel. Google the Whittier tunnel schedule if you plan to go here to find out when the tunnel opens to come and go. Whittier has a lot of STUNNING views of glaciers, mountains, and The Prince William Sound. It is famously known for all the year-round residents live in one big building. There is an abandoned military facility from World War II, take the road up to see it and continue past it for a glacier view.

Seward

Picture of Seward

Seward— Seward is our favorite place. It is about two hours East from our venue. It’s the coolest little town on the ocean with stunning mountain views. It is also home to the Kenai Fjords National Park. Seward offers many boat tours to fish, see glaciers, and ocean wildlife. You can also hike to a glacier here, Exit Glacier. This is where our engagement pictures were taken. Tonsina Creek Trail is a great hike to do here, bring bear spray.

Homer

Picture of Homer

Homer—Located about an hour and a half South of our venue. Homer is the halibut fishing capital of the world! Highly recommend going here if you want to ocean fish. Homer is also on the ocean, very pretty views. “The Homer Spit” is a long narrow finger of land that extends out into Kachemak Bay. It is lined with restaurants and gift shops and the very famous Salty Dawg Saloon.
