Her Story: How We Met

Adam and I first "met" on a zoom planning call for our church's young adults retreat. I just remember this guy named Adam hopped on late to the call and seemed kinda flustered, and that's about it. When he texted me about driving a late car down I was like heck yes, I don't have to drive, praise the Lord! We met for the first time when I walked into his house on the day of the retreat, and I was like okay this boy is tall and cute! We spent the weekend at the young adults retreat and very quickly hit it off. He was easy to talk to, competitive, funny and just adorable. By the end of that weekend, or let's be honest, shortly into the weekend I was very interested.

When we got back from the weekend Adam would text me first to make sure I would be at the group hang outs that he would want to plan and then he would text everyone else. I really enjoyed being around him.

The first time we were together just us, he had offered in our group message to drive anyone to the grocery store to shop for Memorial Day. Carley texted me and said "yes, you want him to pick you up, respond now." Thanks Carley!!!!

When we got back from the grocery store I had absolutely locked myself out of the house. I told Adam he didn't have to wait with me, but being the gentleman he is, he sat and waited with me until my landlord could let me in the house.

Memorial day was the most fun day, we cooked out with friends, swam at the pool and then played an intense game of Mario Cart that led to date zero. Adam beat me at that game, unacceptable, and so I challenged him to a rematch. He planned it for a few days later and then fished to see if anyone else would be joining us LOL He picked me up that night and we grabbed dinner at Cava and then played Mario Cart and talked for hours. He for sure let me beat him which is whatever. We like to call that night date zero, because it was absolutely a date but we hadn't officially labeled it. That night, Adam said "I really enjoy spending time with you and I would love to take you on an actual date." I said "absolutely."

Throughout our relationship he has been the most kind, honest, loving man. I have never had to guess what he is feeling, he is straight forward and bold in his conversations which has been such a blessing.

He told me he loved me FIVE days into our official relationship in the midst of my panic attack and I gas lit him when it slipped out over facetime months later and I denied it for an entire day. Our relationship is imperfectly perfect, there is lots of laughter, lots of deep conversations and lots and lots of dancing.

Adam has pursued me and loved me so well every step of the way. The extent to which he went to plan our beautiful, surprise engagement is a testament to the thoughtfulness and kindness that is Adam Lishman.

There is so much more to our story, and we would love to tell you the hilarious and precious stories in person, so ask away!

But, from the beginning Adam has pursued me, pushed me closer to Lord, encouraged me, and walked beside me and I cannot wait for our story to continue on and on and I can't wait to be his WIFEY!!!!

His Story: How we met

I first saw Ryann on a Zoom call where some of us were going over the church retreat planning. I joined late cause "Oh its just a planning call and I need groceries". I was walking in my front door, groceries in hand when I pulled up Zoom on my phone. Instantly I saw Ryann and my heartbeat quickened. I thought to myself "oh shoot - who's THIS??" I crammed all my groceries into the fridge and scrambled to get seated on the couch.

I knew going into that weekend, I wanted to get to know Ryann. She was going to be leading one of the small groups so that was already a big green flag to me! She was also at my church - another green flag! Now the drive was going to be a good hour so I figured carpooling would be a good way to meet in a group setting. I texted my friend Sam and asked him to start a group text so I could get things going ;)

Friday afternoon arrived overcast and rainy, and I heard a knock at the door (with lots of giggling). That's when I saw really saw her for the first time. I can still picture that exact moment (she had straightened her hair, black glasses, a white tank top, jean shorts, and a hint of perfume... ultra cute!!) She walks into my house with the biggest smile, laughing because she and the girls had just walked into my next door neighbor's house by accident. I would soon come to find out this is on brand for Ryann - big smiles and a joyful spirit! A year later I would read Proverbs 31:25 during my proposal, and this moment came to mind... "she laughs at the time to come". You can't keep Ryann down. She will just laugh at mistakes and trespass right into your home.
