It was 2016 when Addie decided to stay in Beijing for the 3rd year and Marlon decided to leave Yixing for Beijing and ended up working at the same school as Addie. They had their first conversation at a group night out and even though Marlon sat at the opposite end of the long table, Addie realized he was the only one she hasn't spoken to all night and shouted across the table asking him what he teaches, to which he didn’t give a straight answer to and left her rolling her eyes.

Moving on, one of the many perks about living in Beijing is that everyone loves hanging out! So on the second group night out, Addie was late as usual, and as the last person to arrive, the only seats were either in front of Marlon or somewhere with the teachers from last year. Being in Beijing is also about making new connections so Addie chose to sit right across from Marlon. Meanwhile, Marlon noticed Addie walking in and told himself, “If Addie sits across from me, it means she is interested”. And so that led perfectly into the night of drinking games and their first kiss - an unpredictable scenario where Addie strayed from the teacher party booth and decided to sit with some local Beijingers in hopes of getting free shots. Marlon noticed, thought that was a brilliant idea, and joined in. After a few rounds, a problem for Marlon arose. The Beijing girl kept making moves on him, and Marlon was trying really hard to avoid her and sought help from Addie. Addie responded “I’ll just kiss you then!” while thinking “But if we kiss, will we still get free shots from them?”. Anyway, Addie gave Marlon the best kiss of his life and the rest is history and they live happily ever after. The end.
