Q + A

What to Wear???

Friday:

Wear whatever feels right to you. The bride will be in a long white dress and the groom will be in a suit. No one will be kicked out for being overdressed or underdressed.

Saturday:

Saturday will be outdoors, with a covered shelter (incase it is raining or cold).

If you want to wear a dress or a blowup costume, feel free!

The bride and groom will be wearing jeans and be ready to have our best Saturday ever!!! We may even have some new runners (for the Irish folk).

Keep in mind:

· There will be games like pickleball, volleyball, badminton, bags, and more.

· There will likely be photos taken

· Weather could be cold or rainy….or even show since it’s the Midwest!

Weddings are usually one day...you have two?!?

Yes! Our perfect weekend.

We have created our weekend wedding by gathering all the advice from others who have wed before us. We are trying to stay true to what we want, while also including all the people in our hearts. We are being intentional about slowing the day down (we are doing it in two) and having all our favorite people in one spot.

We have people coming in from as far as Japan, people we haven't seen in years, people we see weekly, and people who have watched us grow.

Can I come to the church even if im not invited on Friday??

Yes! Aileen is only wearing a "wedding dress" on Friday. Come if you live close, you really want to see the dress, if you are Catholic and want to witness the sacrament, or you are obsessed with us. You do you.

Im not invited to the brewery....whats that about?!?

If you want to REALLY be upset, talk to Alter Brewing or the Downers Grove Fire Dept. We are limited to 150 people per the fire code.

We had to cut almost half of our casual 300-person guest list. We decided to do a party over two days to accommodate everyone. All to stay true to what WE wanted.

We also wish:

-Masters degrees cost less

-Educators were paid more

-Prices of the world would go down

-There was peace on earth, and everyone was nice to one another.

I heard youre doing a raffle? What is that?

Everyone who comes on Saturday will have the chance to win hand crafted pieces used to decorate the wedding (you can take it when you leave!).

We are also going to raffle off some homemade artwork (all made by friends and family, including the bride and groom). In addition to the ticket you receive for attending, you can donate to purchase more tickets (and increase your odds).

Bring as much cash as you would like to increase your chances (we will also have Venmo). You will also have a chance to win a fall family photoshoot done by the groom (and his lovely (future wife) to make the kids smile).

What is the signup for speeches about?

Friday, we are not doing any speeches. Saturday, we are going to share the promises we write to each other, there will be a time for planned speeches that are more "traditional", you can sign up for a spot before hand, or decide last minute but you may not get as much air time and you may get cut off at the bride and groom discretion. Also know we welcome anyone who wants to share a talent. Want to dance? cool Got a joke? (we trust it will be family-appropriate) tell it. If you're inspired by the opportunity or the stage is your best friend, give us what you've got.

Karaoke?!?

We are assuming people will dance wherever.

Karaoke will work like this: S

ubmit your desired song ahead of time, you'll probably get to sing it. If you don't sign up ahead of time, you can still karaoke. We will have a list you can pick from. Warm up your vocals and get ready to sing the night away or at least till Alter kicks us out.

What about my Kids?

For Friday, children are allowed to attend the church ceremony on Friday, but for those who are invited to the reception, it is 21+ and invite only.

For Saturday, kids are encouraged and welcome to attend but please note the number of kids in your invite for planning purposes.
