Her Story

It's 2014. I just finished exams for first year of graduate school and had one free weekend before summer classes started. My options: spontaneous girls trip with Kam & Sham to party in Washington DC or a weekend of rest. So of course...parrrrtaay!

We found a friend to let us crash, even though he was studying all weekend. His line brother came over to study while the girls and I frolicked in the city all day. When we came back, there was this argumentative, Game-of-Thrones-loving guy that talked just as much as me. After a bunch of conversations throughout the evening, we realized we're kind of the same person... besties at first sight!? At the club that night, he discovered I was a Kobe Bryant fan and immediately put his number in my phone. The rest is a complicated, beautiful journey with 2.5 years of dating, 6-year hiatus and an amazing reunion tour in 2024.

His Story

It all started with a photo I saw in 2014. I remember asking Shamera if she had any single cute friends because I knew she was coming to DC. I remember seeing Alannah and thinking "She's beautiful! Her smile really brightens up a room." I had no idea I was looking at "My Forever".

I remember being a little let down when I was told that she wasn't coming, but in true Alannah fashion she pulled up at the last minute because she's always down for an adventure! We spent that entire night talking. The two topics that truly connected us were a love of both Kobe Bryant and Game of Thrones and at that point I knew I'd found a kindred spirit. From that moment on both of us grew with the mentality of always putting friendship first and allowing that to develop into unconditional love. I thank God every day because from the moment we reconnected in 2024, that foundation of friendship has always been surrounded with an unconditional love, acceptance, and growth.
