Alex and Allie met on a cool November Saturday at a tailgate during their second year at LSU in 2019. Allie arrived at the tailgate with her friend Madalyn, and immediately she caught Alex's eye. Alex did his best to flirt most of the day, but unfortunately even the numerous jello shots weren't enough to provide Alex the courage to ask Allie for her number. Luckily, Alex was good friends with Peyton, Madalyn's boyfriend. So as soon as Allie left, Alex asked Peyton to ask Madalyn to ask Allie for her snapchat. After about a week of talking, Alex and Allie decided to go on their first "date" to see Frozen 2. However, it only made sense for Madalyn and Peyton to accompany, or more like chaperone. The date went by with the two barely saying a word to one another, but something obviously clicked because not long after, Alex and Allie went on their first solo date. This time they were not short on words, as they talked over coffee, ping pong, and dinner for seven hours.
Before they each left campus and went back home for Christmas break, Alex worked up the courage to ask Allie if she was "seeing anyone" and if she "wanted to start seeing eachother". This question dumbfounded Allie because what had they been doing for the last month? However, once she realized that this was Alex's awkward way of asking her to be his girlfriend, she was thankful for the clarification and was happy to start calling Alex her official boyfriend. The relationship continued to grow for a couple months before Alex decided to use a word that caused Allie to hyperventilate for 45 minutes, "love". He gave her a hug and reassured her that he could leave and give her space if that was too much, but Allie did not want him to leave before also telling him that she felt the same way, even if it was a scary word.
Through college, including months of being apart from each other because of Covid, they continued to grow closer and closer. It wasn't very long before their personalities began to rub off on one another. Alex, being someone very content with staying at home, was suddenly traveling all over the country, even taking a 10-day road trip from Baton Rouge to San Diego with Allie (they both decided that if they could spend 10 days in the car together, they could make it through just about anything). Meanwhile, Allie, who couldn't care less about sports, found herself watching and even talking about football and basketball. In the stress of figuring out life after college, Alex and Allie remained steadying forces for one another.
In November 2023, they decided to take a trip to go hiking in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. During their 9-mile hike, Alex, who is never interested in taking pictures, suddenly became extremely interested in finding a "good spot to take a picture". Finally, after a few miles of searching, they found a spot that was good enough for Alex. Except, instead of posing for a picture, Alex got down on one knee and clumsily asked Allie to marry him. Now the once awkward college kids are preparing to stand at the altar and start a life of traveling, long hikes, and lots of sports together!
