In 2021, Pat and Alex met on Tinder, that’s it. There is no grand love story, but rather, two right swipes that led two perfect strangers to each other.

What started as Alex and Pat driving from Jackson to Columbus and Columbus to Jackson to visit each other on the weekends between teaching and pilot training (respectively) and Pat cooking Alex dinners every Friday night, quickly turned into them spending every minute they could together, and eventually, “accidentally falling in love.”

Alex and Pat’s love story is really just an “oops” story, where one day, they just started hanging out, and the next, decided they were never going to stop. They knew it was love, and knew that they didn’t want to do life without one another by their side. So, when the time came for Pat to begin his first pilot assignment in Washington, it was a no brainer that Alex would make the move with him across the country so that they wouldn’t have to be apart and could continue their story.

Their time in Washington has been nothing short of special from buying a house together, to an engagement, and, most importantly, to Capri (their dog), deciding that Pat was alright, too.

But perhaps what does make their story a grand love story is the very fact that it was an accident, or an “oops,” because even without any expectations, they found in each other what so many people search for in a lifelong companion: genuine love, friendship, and admiration.
