4. How you and I met/became friends: Alex and I were fortunate enough to be placed in the same grade nine home room with Ms. McGrath. I did not know many people in our class but recognized Konnor Long sitting with someone I assumed to be a close friend of his. Over the next few weeks, I tried to talk with both Konnor and Alex because I assumed they were “cool”. Little did I know that this was the beginning of a 15-year friendship and counting.

5. Favourite memory of us: Hard to pin-point my favorite singular memory because so many amazing times stand out. Alex and I alongside our band of misfits have experienced so many things together over the last 15 years that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. One thing above all else that has linked Alex and I together for the remainder of our days is five simple numbers “62785”. For people who are unaware, Alex and I lived in two houses together while in university. The first address being 627 Valley View, and the second 785 Regent Street. Five of us who lived at both addresses talked about getting a tattoo together to commemorate our time together. Alex being the most experienced with tattoo’s was tasked with booking the appointment. I received a call from Alex one day months after our original discussion stating he had an appointment booked for us. I was not 100% sold on the idea of getting a tattoo but did not want to seem like a baby and back out. So agreed to attend the appointment with the expectation that all five of us were receiving the same tattoo. When I arrived at the appointment, I was met by Alex alone and we procced to have “62785” memorialized on our upper thigh. Too this day Alex and I are still the only two roommates with these magical numbers etched on our body for the rest of our days. Something I once regretted now brings me immense joy.

How we met/ became friends: I remember playing a junior hockey game for Fredericton in the middle of no where (tri-county) and thought to myself “who the fuck is this crazy goalie that’s been screaming at me all game saying I’m shit at hockey?”. weekend later we saw each other at a party and laughed all about it. A few months after this we both started working for the city of Saint John and got stuck on the worst possible shift (Wednesday to Saturday with…. You know who). About 2 weeks in, we had the option to flip a coin and winner got to switch to the good shift (Tuesday- Friday) which meant being able to party Friday night and day drink Saturday…. anyways you won the coin toss and I’ve hated you ever since.

5. Favourite memory of us: Got to be honest, the best memories that come to mind aren’t PG rated. I’ll try my best here to keep these in line…. First, the obvious memories that come to mind are the multiple nights that we stayed glued to the woodchucks bar demanding shots of jamieson until having to crawl home. Only to text each other at 2pm the next day asking “what happened last night?”. Along side that, I’d say my favourite core memory (PG) is finally getting the chance to see our boy mike in the trash city of portland. Listening to constant bangers off his new album that we were obsessed with, sipping on our piping hot beers, front stage, and surrounded by the boys…. Can’t get any better than that. Well also, Boston concert when we took a hit of a juul for the first time and tripped out thinking it was meth… anyways there’s a few for ya.
