How do I get to Valencia?

Valencia is a very accessible European city. You can arrive by air into the Valencia international airport (VLC). We recommend using Google Flights or Skyscanner to check out flight options. If you'll be traveling within Spain before or after, Valencia is an easy train ride from Madrid or Barcelona. You can find direct trains to/from Joaquin Sorolla Train Station, which is the major station in the city center. We recommend using Trainline to search for train routes.

When should we arrive to Valencia? How many days do you recommend in the city?

We recommend arriving to Valencia no later than Thursday, June 5th. Give yourself some time to acclimate and explore the city before festivities start on Friday, June 6th. We recommend at least 3-4 days in the city to really get the feel of Valencia.

Do I need to know Spanish to visit?

Very basic Spanish (ex. greetings, how to order food) is recommended, but not required. All hotels and touristic sites will have English speaking staff to help you if needed.

Do you have any recommendations for things to do, or places to visit in Spain/Europe before or after?

OF COURSE. Check out our "Things to Do" page for recommendations in Valencia. We lived in Madrid and have visited Barcelona, Alicante, Mallorca, Bilbao, San Sebastian, Sevilla, Galicia, and many other places in Spain so please reach out if you want any suggestions! Also, Alexa's middle name is travel, so if you are able to extend your trip feel free to reach out for other recommendations within Europe.
