I vividly remember when Wesley came into my life in December 2022. After our first hangout, I told my friend Blake that Wesley would be a part of my life forever. Little did I know that he would become the man I marry.

After what felt like five long—and I mean long—months, Wesley asked me to be his girlfriend in the middle of the interstate in Atlanta during rush hour! From that moment on, our relationship continued to grow every day.

The moment I knew I was going to marry Wesley was the moment I realized I was in love. We were at Engage, a student ministry at JSU, where Wesley was part of the worship band. As I watched him on stage that night, something clicked within me. I understood what I meant all those months ago when I said he would be in my life forever—he would be my husband.

Throughout our year together, we faced some trials, but we also experienced some of the best moments of my life. One of my favorites was our first trip together in December 2023, when we traveled to Mobile to visit my family. He handled meeting my dad’s side like a champ! During that trip, I showed him around one of my favorite cities, we built gingerbread houses, and we enjoyed quality time with family. It was then that I got a glimpse of the beautiful future we could have together.

As our relationship deepened, so did our conversations about marriage and our dreams for the future. Once I knew Wesley wanted to marry me, I couldn’t help but ask him every day if that day was "the day." Fast forward to April, when I was attending a close friend’s wedding. When it came time for the bouquet toss, I remember praying to God: "Okay, God. I know you didn’t bless me in the height department, but I’m begging you to give me the legs of every NBA player combined right now." Miraculously, I caught the bouquet, and I knew it was just a matter of time.

Less than a month later, on May 11th, I found myself staring down at the love of my life as he got down on one knee with the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. But what truly outshined it was his smile—the same smile I fell in love with, now asking me to marry him. Spoiler alert: I said yes!

The summer flew by in a blur as we basked in our love, but one thing felt off: May 10th, 2025, seemed like an eternity to wait. So we didn’t. On August 2nd, I married my best friend. We got dressed up, went to the public library, and shared our marriage in a moment that was just between us and God. It was the best day of my life. We then got to celebrated with Blake, who had been there to see our relationship flourish.

Now, I cannot wait to celebrate with all of you and publicly proclaim my love for Wesley.

We first met at the end of 2022, and from that very moment, I sensed a connection. Her personality—so collected and down to earth—along with her humor, voice, and the wonderful friends she surrounded herself with, told me we would be part of each other’s lives for a long time. As we spent more time together, my feelings began to deepen. Her understanding nature, infectious laughter, beauty, interests, and drive drew me in more and more.

It wasn’t until May 2023, at the end of a memorable date at the aquarium in Atlanta, that we made it official and became boyfriend and girlfriend. Over the next year, I witnessed the incredible love and care that Alexa pours into everything she holds dear. She is a hard worker, a loving partner, and possesses a unique and amazing personality that continues to impress me at every turn.

I knew, without a doubt, that she was the woman I wanted to marry and spend eternity with. Exactly one year after we became a couple, just before one of the best worship concerts ever, I got down on one knee, looked into her beautiful eyes, and asked her if she would do me the absolute honor of marrying me. And she said yes! The love of my life agreed to the most important question I’ve ever asked.

But our story didn’t stop there. Our love for each other has only grown stronger with each passing day. There is infinite room for our love to expand, and my heart ignites more passionately for her every morning. We set the date for May 10th, 2025, the day I would take her as my bride. However, our love was so intense that we knew we couldn’t wait. So, on August 2nd, 2024, we got married.

May 10th will always be our wedding date—a celebration so grand that it will be a day no one will forget. But our love deserved the covenant of marriage as soon as possible. She is my beautiful wife, and I have the honor of being her husband. I can hold her close and call her mine for all my days. I cannot wait to recognize and celebrate this incredible fact on our big day, May 10th, 2025.
