GET OUTSIDE
A 3.5-mile path and behind the scenes look at the beautiful mansions, historic properties, and Salve Regina University. Though the trail starts out on a dirt path, it transitions through tunnels, on boulders and rocks, and even has access to some beaches. Proper footwear is encouraged.
If it's warm enough, spend some time at the beautiful beaches around Newport. The most popular are along Memorial Boulevard and are nicknamed First, Second, and Third Beach.

The Breakers, Marble House, The Elms, and Rosecliff are a few of the most visited spots.
SHOP LOCAL
Bellevue Avenue, Thames Street, and Broadway Street are filled with boutiques and coastal New-England inspired fares. Check out unique gifts and nautical souvenirs along Bowen’s Wharf and Bannister’s Wharf. Some of our favorites include Portobello Jewelers for unique estate and antique jewelry and Saltwater Living which carries the most gorgeous flower bouquets made from local shells by Seashells in Bloom.
The town is only 11 square miles and Ubers and Lyfts tend to be widely available.
RIPTA buses also travel throughout the town. The 67 RIPTA line is a trolley that stops at some of the main Newport destinations. For $6, you can get an all-day pass and use it to hop-on and off.
If the October weather is warm enough, walking or biking are great options. There are many bike rental shops around town and it’s a great way to see the sites at your own pace.
Along the streets of Newport, there are many signposts and markers explaining notable landmarks and the history behind them.
Parking can sometimes be hard to come by in downtown. There are metered spaces throughout town, as well as a handful of parking lots available.
(*you can get 24 hr parking in the Mary Street Lot for $20 if you stay at the America's Cup Inn)
