Bowen's Wharf (and Bannister's Wharf) are super cute wharfs right in town with plenty of restaurant and shopping options. Bowen's Wharf will be hosting the annual Newport Oyster & Chowder Festival the weekend of our wedding and we highly suggest stopping by Saturday afternoon or Sunday before you head out.
Viking Tours offers 3 tours but our favorite is the Scenic Overview Tour. It's quick and gives you a great intro into the history of Newport. The tour guides are informative and entertaining! If you have time and want to go more in depth, definitely check out the other tours!
The Cliff Walk in Newport is a beautiful 3.5 mile walk that combines the natural beauty of the Newport shoreline with the architectural history of Newport's gilded age. We like to pick up the Cliff Walk at "40 Steps," which is where Marc finally popped the question! If you want to walk from one end to the other, we suggest starting there or from the beginning at Memorial Blvd. Once you get to the end, catch the RIPTA to take you back into town.
If you are a car enthusiast like Marc, definitely check out Audrain Auto Museum. Their exhibitions change often but the cars are always great!
If we're going somewhere with a lighthouse, Alex has to stop to see it so no surprise we'd pick a venue with it's very own lighthouse. Castle Hill itself has 40 acres of land and the lighthouse is nestled off to the side. It is a rocky, dirt path so we do suggest heading over to see it outside of our wedding if you love lighthouses!
Hands down the best breakfast in Newport with the friendliest staff! We go to Cru every single morning we are in Newport. If you love egg sandwiches, definitely try The Newporter with eggs over easy and bacon and don't forget to get a side of Fancy Tots! *chef's kiss* All of the baked goods are delicious as well. No alcohol so if you want a mimosa, you can bring your own champs and they'll supply the rest. Patio is very pup friendly!
If you love Mexican food like Alex, do not sleep on Diego's. The nachos are amazing!! Even Lilly agrees ;) We highly recommend making reservations!
The Mooring has a special place in our hearts as it was where we celebrated our engagement the night Marc proposed. Everything we had on the menu was delicious and service was spectacular. We highly recommend making reservations!
If you love pasta, definitely check out Pasta Beach while in town. The food is delicious and fresh. Service is great too!
White Horse is a Newport staple. The tavern has been around since 1673 and is considered the oldest tavern in the United States. You may even have an unexpected guest join you as it was ranked one of the most haunted bars in America.
If you are looking for a quick bite, definitely check out Wally's Wieners! We love their food - especially if we're getting into Newport late after work.
