Q + A

Where is the wedding taking place?

Our wedding weekend will take place in Mérida, Mexico. We will be hosting events at multiple venues throughout the weekend. The exact locations and addresses will be shared on this website and via email as the date approaches.

Do I need a passport to travel to Mexico?

Yes, U.S. citizens need a valid passport to travel to Mexico by air, and a passport book is required for re-entry into the U.S. If traveling by land or sea, you can use a passport book, passport card, or a Trusted Traveler Program card (such as a SENTRI card). If you plan to stay in Mexico for more than 180 days, you will need to apply for a visa.

How long must my passport be valid when traveling to Mexico from the United States?

Your passport must be valid at the time of entry and for the duration of your stay in Mexico. Unlike some countries, Mexico does not require six months of validity beyond your arrival or departure date. However, to avoid any potential issues with airlines or border officials, it is generally recommended to have at least six months of validity remaining on your passport.

What helpful apps should I download on my phone to ensure a pleasant stay in Mérida?

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay in Mérida, we recommend downloading the following apps before your trip: Uber – The most reliable way to get around the city. WhatsApp – Essential for staying in touch, as many locals and businesses prefer messaging over phone calls. These apps will make communication and transportation much easier during your visit!

What are the wedding weekend events?

Please see our website's home page for more details on wedding weekend events! We encourage guests to join us for the full weekend, but feel free to attend as many or as few events as you'd like! Please see your specific invitation for further details!

What are the nearest airports?

The nearest airport is Manuel Crescencio Rejón International Airport (MID) in Mérida. Alternatively, you can fly into Cancún International Airport (CUN) and take a bus or private transfer to Mérida (approximately a 3.5-hour drive). We encourage you too look into and book flights at your earliest convenience!

How do I get to my accommodations from the airport?

We recommend using Taxi ADO Aeropuerto (WhatsApp: +51 999-350-0404) to schedule a ride in advance. You may also use other reputable airport taxi services such as Taxi Autoservice, FlexE Co-Taxi, or Taxi MyRide. If you prefer to book upon arrival, simply exit customs and walk toward the airport exit—you’ll find taxi counters inside the airport where you can arrange transportation on upon arrival.

Where will Alex and Evan be staying?

Alex and Evan will be staying at the following address throughout the weekend: Calle 43 454, Merida, Yucatán 97000, Mexico. Feel free to choose AirBnB or hotels (boutique, traditional, etc.) as close to the above address as you’d like. Some events will be held at or within a two block radius from that address.

Do you have hotel/accommodations recommendations?

Yes! Please visit the Travel section of our website for a list of recommended hotels/accommodations. In addition, Mérida offers a variety of AirBnB options to suit different budgets and group sizes. We recommend staying near Centro for easy access to wedding events, dining, and local attractions.

Will there be transportation provided throughout the weekend?

Ubers are readily available throughout Mérida. We recommend downloading the Uber app on your phone before leaving the United States to ensure seamless transportation during your stay.

What should I wear to the wedding?

Our wedding will be semi-formal with a tropical touch. Think flowy dresses, linen suits, and comfortable but stylish footwear—Mérida can be warm, and some venues may have cobblestone or grass surfaces.

What’s the weather like in Mérida in February?

February is one of the best months to visit Mérida! Expect warm days around 80°F (27°C) and cooler evenings around 65°F (18°C).

Are you registered for gifts?

Your presence means the world to us! If you'd like to give a gift, THANK YOU! Please use this link to do so: https://withjoy.com/alexevan2026/registry.

Will there be vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free, etc. options?

Absolutely! We’re working with our caterers to provide a variety of meal options. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions when you RSVP.

Will there be an open bar?

Yes! We’re providing an open bar during the wedding reception.

How do I RSVP?

You can RSVP directly through our wedding website.

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by December 31st, 2025.

Can I bring my children to the wedding?

We love your little ones, but our wedding will be an adults-only celebration. We hope you can use this as an opportunity for a fun getaway and enjoy a child-free evening with us!

Will Kiki and Lulu be attending the wedding?

Lulu has officially made it to Mexico (after a short stint in immigration detention—lol)! With all her travel documents squared away, she just might make a special guest appearance, assuming she doesn’t get distracted by a snack break along the way. While Kiki is watching over us from above, we know she’ll be cheering her sister on every step (and nibble) of the journey. Stay tuned!

Who should I contact if I have questions?

Alex will be hosting Google Meet Office Hours to answer your questions on Sunday, 12/14, Sunday, 1/4, and Sunday 2/1.
