Alexis dreamed of many things as a young girl. Going to space, being an actor, developing a superhero serum or suit are just a few examples. She never dreamed of her wedding day. Until she met a certain boy...

Derek was a child. He tried his best.

Alexis and Derek first met at the Aggiest place an Aggie couple could meet, freshman Fish Camp. (Derek remains eternally mortified by this fact.) While standing next to each other during a ceremony, Derek introduced himself to Alexis because he "thought she was cute."

During their freshmen year, Alexis and Derek both were those type of overachievers who enrolled in Engineering Honors Research. They were assigned to the same group and became acquainted over Marvel movies.

On the first day of Sophomore year once Alexis and Derek were both accepted into the Chemical Engineering department, Alexis was looking for a sign if she was meant to be with Derek. That sign being if he was in at least one class with her. He was in two. Derek was oblivious to her turmoil and was pleasantly surprised to see her in class.

The start of their relationship was a string of awkward and cringe-inducing unofficial dates. Their first official date as a couple was eating at the top of the tallest building on campus and sneaking into a ballroom to slow dance together.

Derek and Alexis studied together frequently. Often spending late nights in JEB 106. Alexis provided the brains and organization of the two, and Derek provided moral support.

Alexis and Derek took their first long vacation to Big Bend National Park. They went camp amid freezing temperatures, coyotes, and wild donkeys. Alexis would reflect that "it was too cold to shower, so I felt dirty the whole time, but it was pretty!"

In this photo, Derek and Alexis are both regaining consciousness on their 7th rollercoaster in three hours. Derek would later say that "my vision went black, I saw a flash, and then it ended. It was a great time."

Alexis and Derek were long-distance for half of their relationship before they graduated. Alexis would have internships in Pasadena, TX; Freeport, TX; and Cleveland, OH. Derek would intern virtually and in Bartlesville, OK. They visited each other as much as they could, including this trip to Niagara Falls.

Alexis and Derek enjoyed their last semester attending every home football game. This was very easy to do considering they had lost their will to do any more schoolwork.

Alexis and Derek are huge nerds who love playing Dungeons and Dragons and going to Ren Fest.

Alexis and Derek were the only chemical engineers who graduated with engineering honors. Additionally, they were fortunate enough to sit side-by-side during the graduation ceremony.

After graduating and moving in together, the couple celebrated by traveling across the sea to the city of love (and Germany).
