What is the dress code?
Semi-Formal/Formal.
Is there a level of modesty that I should follow?
There is no strict dress code, please wear whatever makes you feel the most comfortable. That being said, the ceremony takes place in a synagogue, so please dress with the respect befitting an active place of worship. We will have kippahs (skullcaps) available for those who wish to wear them.
Are any parts of the wedding separated by gender?
Yes. During the Ḥuppah (ceremony) women will sit to the right of the aisle and men will sit to the left. During the first set of dancing, there will be a meḥitzah (barrier) separating men and women. Children are welcome to be with either parent for both the Ḥuppah and the first set of dancing, regardless of gender. During all other parts of the wedding there are no restrictions.
What Jewish/Hebrew music can I expect during the wedding?
Please see the "music" page for lyrics, translations, transliterations, and recordings of Hebrew/Jewish songs that will be sung at various points during the wedding.
