Matt and Alicia’s romance began when he asked her to dance with him. They didn’t dance on their first date but they did go for a walk on the beach. Towards the end of that walk, Alicia gracefully fell on her face directly in the sand. She wasn’t sure whether to laugh or to cry but that was the beginning of her falling in love with him. Matt is kind, intelligent, and a bit of a nerd - but so is Alicia. They both started their careers at PwC at different times, in different cities and in different practices, but that was the foundation for them realizing they had a lot in common. On the second date, they had to promise not to talk about work but that didn’t last long. Matt is very supportive of Alicia’s career and cheers her on every step of the way. He helps her solve excel crises and is understanding when she has a meltdown after losing a file she had worked on all day that didn’t save. He is thoughtful and always makes sure she has all the Dr Pepper and ice cream she needs in her life. They can’t wait to spend their lives together.
Now if you’re wondering how he proposed, here are the details: So Matt told Alicia that he wrote out 8 cards that were numbered 1-8. Each card had something different on them and they were random so he didn’t even know which thing was related to each number. He threw them up in the air several times and shuffled them before putting them in envelopes. He told her 2 of them would be duds and the rest gifts, one of which would be related to a surprise. He could tell by the card which day was surprise day, but she wouldn’t be able to tell. If she got to day 8 and that was the surprise card, the clock would start again with 8 new cards so she wouldn’t know what day the surprise was. If she choose the surprise card early, she would forfeit the rest of the cards. Alicia chose 3, 5, 8 and 7 when the game ended and he got down on one knee.
