FAQs

What will the weather be in Kiawah during this time?

Kiawah average high temperatures in late October are in the low to mid 70s and the average low is around 60 at night. The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outside. The reception will be completely indoors.

Where is the ceremony?

The ceremony will take place on the Grand Lawn at the Sanctuary Hotel. When you enter the hotel, go directly to the back doors and you will see the grand lawn and ceremony space! Would recommend block heels for the grass!

Where is the reception?

After the cocktail hour, (which is also on the Grand Lawn) the reception will take place in the Grand Oaks Ballroom.

Do I need to rent a car to get to Kiawah Island?

If you are staying at the Sanctuary Hotel or in a Villa/House through Kiawah Island Resort a rental car is not needed since you can get to the island via rideshare and also arrange for transportation back to the airport through the concierge. There are also on-island shuttles that can take you around Kiawah Island Resort and we will have shuttles picking up for the wedding events Friday and Saturday at different spots! However a car can come in handy if wanting to go to Freshfields village or if wanting to check out other spots on the way up to Kiawah!

Why did we pick Kiawah Island for our special day?

Kiawah Island is somewhere Kevin and Alicia talked about on their very first date! They mutually bonded over the love for South Carolina (and southern food of course) as Kiawah Island was somewhere Kevin grew up going with his family since he was 5 years old and Alicia also had lived in South Carolina for four years when she attended the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) Also, a fun special fact: the first time Kevin met Alicia's Dad - they played a virtual round of Golf at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, since Alicia's Dad had been there before on boating trips! It was a no brainer when they started planning that this would be somewhere very special for them.
