I have questions, who can I contact?
Please contact Alex and Alissa at alissaandalex@outlook.com
Which airport should I fly into?
There are three major airports we recommend - Pisa International Airport, Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (Rome), and Amerigo Vespucci Airport (Florence).
There are often direct flights from major international Canadian airports to Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (Rome ). It is approximately a 3 hours drive from Rome to the Venue.
However, if you are in Europe already, or are travelling to another major European city before the wedding, flying to Pisa and Florence is well priced and it closer to the venue (approximately 1 hour drive).
The Poggibonsi-San Gimignano is the nearest train station, and has frequent train service from Florence (direct options available), Pisa (1 connection) and Rome (1 or 2 connections).
What is the closest major City to the venue?
Siena is the nearest major City to the Antico Borgo San Lorenzo.
Where to stay?
We have exclusive use of Antico Borgo San Lorenzo from May 15 to 19, 2025. The wedding is on Saturday May 17, with optional shenanigan's the days before and after. Accommodations will be a combination of rooms at the Borgo and a nearby Hotel. All are welcome at the Borgo for the duration of our stay. More details can be found on the accommodation page.
Please note that there is limited accommodation available at the Borgo, generally for immediate family. We hope to offer as many guests as possible accommodation on site. Please refer to your save the date and invitation for your recommended option. Please RSVP to the optional shenanigan's through the wedding invite.
Do I need a car?
The Borgo recommends a car to access the area as there is no public transportation in these hills and taxi's are limited. The road to the Borgo is not long from the nearest town, but it is steep and is not suitable to walk on at night.
Car rentals are available at all major cities and in the Town of Poggibonsi.
The Poggibonsi-San Gimignano is the nearest train station, and has frequent train service from Florence (direct options available), Pisa (1 connection) and Rome (1 or 2 connections).
We will arrange a shuttle to/from the hotel for the wedding.
Can I use my regular lisence to drive in Italy?
For Canadians, holders of a valid Canadian driver’s licence may drive for up to 1 year, provided they also have an International Driving Permit (IDP). International Driving Permits are issued in Canada by the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) and must be procured before leaving Canada since it is not possible to get or renew IDPs abroad. Note that your Canadian driver’s licence must accompany the IDP at all times: the IDP alone is not sufficient to drive in Italy. This website will assist with additional province specific information - https://www.caa.ca/services/travel/international-driving-permit/'
What's the transportation situation to the wedding?
In general, the venue recommends a car rental in the area as taxis and public transportation are very limited. Car rentals are available in major hubs like Siena, Florence and Pisa.
A bus has been arranged pick up and drop off for the wedding day. For guests staying at the Villa San Lucchese Hotel - the first pick up will be at 3:50pm and the second pick up will be shortly after.
For guests staying at Palazzo Galganetti Betti, the pick up will be at 3:50pm at this location https://maps.app.goo.gl/q25xLZn6PvecTEg88
For guests staying at the Airbnb Pian Dei Campi , the pick up will be at 4:15pm.
Bus rides home are also available starting at 11:20pm until 1:20pm (last bus).
