Wear whatever you would like! Have that dress you've been waiting for a chance to wear? Wear it! Suit, tux, sport coat, wear whatever you'll feel good and want to dance in!
Please no crazy logoed t-shirts, tuxedo t-shirts, flag-themed attire, onesies, beer-dispensing hats, stilts, and preferably no white dresses (Alli might wear one, we'll see and we may have already subcontracted "accidental" wine-spillers).
Why rural southwestern PA?
We are getting married in the same church Mike's parents were married in. Somerset County, PA is a special place for a lot of reasons, but both of Mike's parents have a lot of family history (and farms) here. If you've never been, we hope you get to take some time to explore some of the beauty here!
Why is everything like a half hour apart and in different towns?
For those of you who aren't from here, this kind of came with the territory of planning an event in a rural area. Block accommodations are in the nearest town with hotels (seriously, Google it). Luckily, despite being in different towns, the ceremony and reception are only 10 mins apart!
We will be providing a very fancy optional yellow school bus to bring people to and from the Hampton Inn & Comfort Inn (see Travel/Lodging tab) and the ceremony/reception.
I'm not catholic, can I still go to the ceremony?
Please do! I'm not catholic either (Alli typing). The community here is very welcoming and Father Aron gives a great homily. You can follow along in the program, find lyrics to hymns in the Hymnal (book provided), or just look and follow what others are doing.
If you'd like, you can even go up during communion and receive a blessing (just cross your arms across your chest). All we ask is that you be respectful and do what makes you most comfortable.
