Well... Our journey began in January 2018 when we met on a ski trip in Golden, BC, organized by some mutual friends. This trip also sparked our first disagreement: Allie remembers meeting Kyle on the ski trip, but Kyle insists we actually met weeks earlier while rock climbing—though Allie doesn’t recall that encounter. Regardless, we hit it off immediately when Kyle nearly landed on Allie after jumping off the top of the waterslide into the hotel pool (Allie originally thought Kyle was trying to impress her, but now knows this is just what Kyle does).
We soon started spending more time together, and by April, we were finally officially dating. From the beginning, we enjoyed a variety of activities together, including hiking, biking, backpacking, camping, and skiing. Kyle even took up running to hang out (and impress) Allie. Our shared passion for extreme sports and the outdoors is what really attracted us to one another and made is so easy to spend all our time together.
After about a year, Allie moved to Edmonton to complete her degree and later her Masters, leading to nearly four years of on-and-off long-distance. Fortunately, we were close enough to see each other frequently, never going more than two weeks without a visit. Although it was challenging at times, we persevered and are thrilled to be living together full-time again.
In 2020, we welcomed our first furry family member, Cher, who is thoroughly spoiled and adores her parents (especially her mom). On August 7, 2022, we got engaged during a trip to BC. After an exhilarating skydiving experience in Golden, Kyle proposed at our next camping spot, with a stunning lake in the mountains and sunset as the backdrop. It was perfect for us.
In late 2024, shortly after Allie moved in with Kyle following her graduation, we decided to purchase the acreage where Allie grew up from her parents. We love the charm of acreage living and have enjoyed collecting adorable farm animals! We are also thrilled that this special place will be the venue for our wedding!
Today, we continue to share our love for outdoor adventures—though Kyle has stopped running, as he no longer feels the need to impress Allie. We cherish these moments together and wouldn’t have it any other way. We have now been together for over seven years and engaged nearly three years, we are so excited to finally be getting married at the acreage we now call home!
We cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together.
xoxo
