Our Story

Our Story

Act 1: Fall of 2013 – The Mutual Meet
Curtains open. Allison enters stage right. Brian is center stage.
Allison: We met through a mutual friend, Ann Baum, at Brian’s apartment.
Brian: My roommate/best friend, Jake Baugh, and I put on our best comedic show for Allison and her friends.
Allison: After that one night, we would only see each other in big friend group gatherings.
Narrator: Eventually, Brian got the courage to ask Ann if she could put in a good word for him. Ann persistently put in a word for nearly four years before Allison really paid attention, to his great dismay and confusion.

Act 2: April 27, 2019 - Our Journey Began
Curtains open. Brian enters door center stage. Allison enters left stage.
Narrator: In due time, the stars aligned, the lunar eclipse happened, and God’s plan began.
Allison: When Brian walked through the front doors of my parent’s house wearing a sport coat, jeans, and boots, I couldn’t resist. I had to talk to him the entire night!
Brian: I got my sport coat on sale at JC Penny’s that day. Boy, what a deal! Even with that jacket, I was still nervous to see Allison. She looked so pretty in her summer dress. She then persisted to talk to me the entire night!
Narrator: They talked all night. Really, all night!

Act 3: Rest of 2019 – The Journey
Narrator: After constant communication, Allison began to wonder if Brian was even interested. Though he had great affection and love for Allison, he neglected to give his phone number to her. Brian’s thought process was that texting is considered the same as messaging through Facebook in today’s society. Due to the misunderstanding, they took a two week hiatus and Allison fled to Cuba. There, Allison had an epiphany. And when she returned, she responded to Brian’s last message sent two weeks prior on Facebook. Brian nearly fainted.
Hallelujah chorus. Curtains open. Brian center stage floating with joy. Allison off in the distance.
Brian: Air smells cleaner, food tastes better, and the sun shines brighter! Could it be? Is this real? What planet am I on, but love?! Shall I ask her on a date?
Allison: I would rather be his friend and in his life than nothing at all, but I hope he gives me his number! Can I get your number??
Brian: Are you hitting on me? (I hope she says yes)
Allison: *Palm to the face…*
The scene begins with Brian waiting inside a Fuzzy’s Taco Stand. Both hungry and nervously sweaty.
Narrator: Brian and Allison decided to meet up at the Fuzzy’s in Arlington, TX. Just in case the date went horribly wrong, there would be an easy getaway for either party back to Forth Worth or Dallas. Brian waits patiently for Allison to enter into the restaurant.
Brian: I already have a great opening line to make her laugh so I can worry about what I want to eat..maybe the chips and queso to start..
Allison: Hey Brian! How are you doing? The chips and queso are my favorite here!
Brian: I’m swell! But before we begin, I went for a run today and saw this strange animal. What do you think it is? I think it’s a opossum:

Allison: Ha.. ha.. ha.. I’m not sure that’s a opossum.. What are you having to eat?
Brian: (Begins to sweat). Take another look, maybe you missed it. It’s BigFoot. Get it?

Crickets noise
Narrator: Important side note, it isn’t hard to make Allison laugh. Even a wall can make her laugh. Anything. But she didn’t seem to think Brian’s greatest one liner was impressive.
Brian: Thinking to himself – this is going horribly wrong. Maybe if I just get up from the table and run away, we can forget this happened. I don’t think she can sense humor. But I will remain a gentleman and put on my best face for the rest of the evening.
Allison: Thinking to herself - What is he talking about? Does he think I am not interested? I am VERY interested! I hope the rest of the night goes well.
Narrator: And the night went well. Actually, it went better than well! It was one of the best dates either of them have been on in quite some time!

INTERMISSION (Go surf YouTube for BigFoot footage)

Narrator: Months have gone by now. And Brian and Allison’s love grew stronger and stronger for each other. In March of 2020, COVID is now in the midst and there is NOTHING. TO. DO. except be at home and do Disney puzzles. Through a tragic and near death accident, Allison violently trips on a workout mat nearly severing her leg. Technically, it’s a partial tear to her Lisfranc ligament. She will survive (queue I Will Survive music). Now she is in a cast, and helplessly dependent on others. Brian gallantly comes to her rescue and helps her on the weekends (Giving Andrew Homer, Allison’s Brother, a much deserved breather).

Act 4: May 16, 2020 - The Proposal
Spotlight. Center Stage. Brian sits on a stool in a pondering pose. Allison… backstage getting her cast on her foot.
Narrator: All of a sudden, a light bulb turns on in Brian’s head.
Brian: It is time! Time to propose to Allison (there is nothing else going on…).
Narrator: Brian begins to assemble his A-team.
Enter Parents, Andrew Homer, James Antal, Cheryl Aguas, Ann Baum, Matt Baum, Michelle Dow, and Hannah Severson. Salute Brian.
Brian: At ease soldiers! Can ya’ll show up at 7:30pm on May 16th?
Everyone: Sure!
Narrator: Later that day… Brian keeps his composure. Operation Proposal begins. Brian wants to start making dinner at 1700 hours (5:00pm CST)
Allison: What do you mean you want to be eating by 6:00pm? Let’s start eating at 7:00pm like usual!
Brian: (A light sweat forms on his forehead) I am starving. Let’s start to make our way upstairs to the cooking chambers. I can gallantly carry you, if required.
Allison: Meh, I’m not hungry. Go eat a snack.
Narrator: It is now 5:30pm and Brian is sweating profusely.
Allison: I guess we can go start cooking now!
Brian: YESSSSSSSSSS. Going to change clothes as I spilt sauce on my shirt from lunch.
Brian exits. Returns in nice clothes for once.
Allison: Not as nice as that sport coat, but it’ll do. I quickly realized how difficult cooking became with one leg and a scooter.
Time: 6:50pm
Brian: (Turns to audience, breaks fourth wall) There is no way we will be ready by 7:30pm. Execute Defcon 5: call A-Team for plan update.
Narrator: Brian frantically texts the A-Team the change of plans while putting the broccoli into the oven. The A-Team quickly adjusts to the unforeseen (though could’ve expected) Allison time extension.
Time: 7:30pm
Narrator: Allison and Brian are FINALLY sitting at the table about to enjoy their meal.
Enter A-team. Outside, Michelle Dow does an unexpected singing in the rain twirl in her bright yellow raincoat. Allison looks out the window at the exact moment Michelle is twirling.
Allison: I want to go to that party with the champagne. Wait… are those my friends? Is that Michelle? Yep! Those are my friends.
A-Team enters the room.
Brian: Will you marry me?
Allison: YES!!!
Narrator: They lived happily ever after!

THE END
