General Wedding Questions
What should I wear?
For each event, the dress code is covered in more detail on the event page. Please refer to those pages for images and examples. We also include a brief description of the dress code for each event in the event specific FAQ sections on this page. If you are still not sure after reading this info, please reach out to us directly.
Are there any colors that we should or should not wear?
For the Indian celebration of our marriage, we encourage people to embrace our theme of colorful. Wear any color you like! It can be as bright, bold, fun, or sparkly as you wish - whatever makes you feel best when you wear it!
For the western wedding, we ask that women do not wear white or cream toned outfits, but welcome any other colors!
Are you registered? To where can we send our gift?
Yes, we are registered and have made all of our registry information available on the registry page of our website. Through our registry page, you will be able to access our honeymoon fund or registry to send a gift. Shipping locations are already built in, so no need to worry about where to send anything.
May I bring my children?
We respectfully request that only guests listed on the wedding invitation attend. Due to space considerations, we had to limit the number of plus ones and children that can attend. Babes in arms are an exception. If this applies to you, please reach out to us so that we can work together to ensure your comfort.
Am I allowed to take photos at your wedding?
We ask that you refrain from taking photos or using your phone during the wedding ceremony. However, we invite you to take plenty of pictures during our reception.
Will any events be taking place outdoors?
No events will occur outdoors. However, the ceremony may be hosted in the sanctuary of a church approximately two blocks from the ballroom. The final location of the ceremony will be determined 6 months before the wedding date and listed on the invitation accordingly.
Indian Celebration of Our Marriage (Saturday)
What should I expect at the Indian celebration?
It will be a night of celebration during which we combine aspects of several Indian cultural events related to marriage. We will show clips and provide narration for key parts of the Hindu ceremony that we performed on an auspicious date. Additionally, we will combine Indian food and celebratory dancing similar to what is seen in a sangeet (Indian pre-wedding celebration). See the Indian Celebration page for more details.
What should I wear to the Indian celebration?
We invite our attendees to dress in Indian apparel if you are comfortable. More information on Indian apparel appropriate for this event can be found on the event specific page alongside images and links to sites from which such outfits can be purchased. If you prefer to wear western apparel, we recommend bright and colorful semi-formal wear. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
What type of food will be served at the Indian celebration?
TBD
Western Style Wedding (Sunday)
What time should I arrive to the western wedding ceremony on Sunday?
We ask that you attempt to arrive fifteen minutes prior to the listed start time for the ceremony, so that we can ensure everyone is seated in time for the event!
What should I wear to the Western ceremony and reception?
The dress code for our western ceremony and reception is western semi-formal. For women, this typically includes a cocktail dress, maxidress, pantsuit, or nice jumpsuit. For men, semi-formal apparel typically includes suits or dress pants and blazer sets. We know labor day weekend can be a hot time of year, so feel free to switch the suit jacket out for a nice vest or leave it behind all together if you prefer.
What type of food will be served at the western wedding reception?
We will include charcuterie style hors d'oeuvres at cocktail hour. Following cocktail hour, we will have a buffet with a selection of chicken, vegetarian, and pasta options. A vegetarian entree and several vegetarian sides will be provided. If you are concerned about mobility at the buffet, we are happy to serve you at your table. If you have any dietary restrictions please make sure to let us know in your RSVP.
Accommodations & Accessibility
Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?
Yes! The locations for each of our events are wheelchair accessible. The Marriot Springhill Suites has onsite parking and is only a block from the ballroom, so we recommend this location to anyone concerned about mobility and will need a hotel. There is also a parking lot located one block from the ballroom for anyone arriving the day of. An elevator is available in the Grand Ballroom and there is a ramp at the ceremony location. If you will need additional accommodations, please reach out!
What should I do if I have dietary restrictions?
We are aware that a large portion of our guests may be vegetarian, so can ensure that dinners and meals will offer many vegetarian options. However if you have other dietary restrictions (ex. gluten-free, food allergies, vegan), please note these on your RSVP. We will reach out to you about options for delicious meals that accommodate any restrictions.
Hotels & Travel
Do you recommend any particular hotels?
If you will be staying overnight, we recommend a hotel in the Butler area. The SpringHill Suites by Marriott Pittsburgh Butler/Centre City hotel is across the street from the venue and would be a great option. Generally, hotels in Butler including the Marriot remain in an affordable range, however keep in mind that it is a holiday weekend, so the best rates will be found by booking early.
