It started with a swipe, no not on Tinder, but on OkCupid. Ally reached out first and they met a few weeks later at a Cajun restaurant where they instantly clicked. Ally pretended to like alligator to impress Bobby even though she’s a picky eater. Bobby walked Ally home and, despite the connection they had, they lost touch due to their busy work schedules. After six months had passed, Bobby reached out to Ally and they decided to meet again. Bobby cooked dinner for Ally, the first time a guy had ever done that for her. He made paprika chicken and side that he called “Woodlawn Spätzle.” A few weeks later Bobby asked Ally out and they started to fall in love. Their love of family, history, travel and sports (even though they are baseball rivals) brought them together. In 2020, life changed with Covid and Ally and Bobby decided to quarantine together. That led to the adoption of their fur babies, Judy and Jane. They realized during that time that time wanted to be together forever. Ally and Bobby have had wonderful adventures together from the mountains of Lake George (where both their families had taken them as kids) to the beaches of Florida and the coast of San Diego (their favorite place) where Bobby asked Ally to spend forever with him during the sunset on Coronado Beach. They are so excited to embark on their next journey with their family and friends beside them as they become husband and wife.

There is a block of 25 rooms set aside for our wedding, with three different options to choose from. A minimum of two nights is required to stay there. The hotel has an outdoor pool with a bar, indoor Olympic pool, hot tub, game room, workout room as well as a bar and restaurant on site.  Also, those who choose to stay will be given complimentary chairs and passes for the beach which is right across the street! If you choose not to stay at the Grand, there are other lodging accommodations within the general area as well as in Wildwood which is about a 20 minute drive from the venue!

Alternative Lodging 

The Shore Plaza Beach Resort is located directly on the Wildwood boardwalk and directly across from the beach. Bobby and I stayed there for the first time during the summer of 2023 and absolutely fell in love with the place. It's also located above Sam's Pizza Palace, which has always been mine and now Bobby's favorite place to get pizza in the Wildwoods. The staff is so welcoming and has 24-hour security. All rooms have queen sized beds and are very clean. Despite being on the boardwalk, the noise is non-existent. It also has a rooftop pool and small jacuzzi within the pool. This option is for those who chose not to stay at the Grand, The hotel does not have an online booking option, and requires those looking to stay to call and book their rooms. Rates are $220.00 per night, and booking opens up in January. The Shore Plaza is about a 20 minute drive to the Grand Hotel of Cape May.

For those looking for a chain hotel, The Days Inn would be our recommendation. It's only a 20 minute drive as well and is located in the heart of Wildwood. Like the Shore Plaza, it's located near the beach and boardwalk. While I've never stayed here please feel free to reach out about this or any other options in the Wildwood area you may come across!

We have heard wonderful things about the ICONA in Cape May and in Wildwood. This location is about a minute walk away from the Grand. Rooms feature refrigerators and flat-screen televisions. Rooms have private balconies or patios. Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and cable programming is available for your entertainment. Private bathrooms have complimentary toiletries and hair dryers.

Love a good, locally brewed beer, then this is the place for you! It's one of our favorite places to go down the shore. It features a tasting room and outdoor area.

Climb the 199 steps up the original, cast iron spiral stairway to the top of the 1859 Cape May Lighthouse and see a staggering view of the Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean, the surrounding nature trails of Cape May Point State Park, and Cape May Point Borough. It's the third documented lighthouse at the southern tip of New Jersey, has always been an attention-getting landmark as well as an aid-to-navigation for mariners.

One of my favorite places in the world. It may just be a boardwalk to some, but to me it's home. The Wildwoods’ award-winning Boardwalk features 38 blocks packed end to end with shops, waterparks, eateries, entertainment and amusement piers with over 100 rides and attractions. The sights, the sounds and the smells of the Wildwoods Boardwalk are just pure sensory overload!&nbsp;Can't beat those party lights and Wildwood nights!

Looking to take a walk on the wild side? Then head over to the Cape May zoo. It provides free year-round admission to a collection of more than 550 animals representing 250 species in 85 acres of exhibits.While admission is free, they do ask for donations which go towards the care of the animals and upkeep of the zoo.
