Get to Know Aly and Michael's Wedding Party
You won't find a maid of honor or best man in our wedding party - our friends and family mean the world to us and we wouldn't want to rank one over another. Our closest friends and siblings will be standing by us as we say our wedding vows! Here's a an introduction if you don't know them already:
Booker - Dog of Honor
Booker is Aly and Michael's rescue Carolina dog. They have had Booker for 4 years now and he is a big part of their lives! Booker loves chicken, walks, treats, chasing sticks, swimming and sniffing butts. If you see him wandering on his own, just tell him to go find his Best Friend Mayo or Uncle Matt! He can be wary of new people, just ignore him until he comes over to you for some butt scratches.
Matt Laris - Standing with Bride
Aly's younger brother Matt will be standing by her on her big day! Matt and Aly bickered like most siblings when they were growing up, but as they've grown up they have become really close. They share a sense of humor, a love for music, and knack for the family business. When they get together, they love to put on music that will get their dad dancing, play with Booker, and eat mom's cooking (i.e jancakes, jookies, jickles, etc).
Katie McRae - Standing with Bride
Katie and Aly have been friends since college. They met working at Snoqualmie Pass and realized they were actually neighbors in Ellensburg, and kindred spirits. From living together on the pass to adventuring all over the state (like the spontaneous trip to the Oregon coast to watch the eclipse pictured), their friendship has grown as they've stepped into (sort of) adult lives. You can often catch them sipping wine in a hammock, camping, or chatting about life. Aly couldn't imagine not having Katie by her side as she says "I do"! Katie's hubby John will be standing by Michael on their wedding day as well.
Sophey Sadler - Standing with Bride
Aly and Soph were fast friends when they started working at Snoqualmie Pass as the only 2 female ticket scanners that season. They share a fun taste in music and a love for food and cooking. When they're together, there is rarely a break in the laughter. Sophey and Aly have been friends for a decade and have been there for each other through it all regardless of living 1-2 hrs apart. Sophey always brings the fun and Aly is so excited she will be with her on her big day!
Jessica Mayo - Standing with Bride
Aly and "Mayo" have been friends since they were co-workers at Pybus Market. They have fond memories of working Saturdays together at the market - doing lots of people watching and dog watching. They became really close during the pandemic, hanging out in Aly and Michael's back yard "hillbilly hot tub" on warm Wenatchee afternoons. Booker (A + M's dog) really took to Mayo and she became one of his favorite people. They lovingly refer to her as Booker's "best friend Mayo". Mayo has been a super supportive friend to Aly and is always down to clown. Aly thinks it's *incredible* that Mayo will be standing next to her when she marries Michael.
Cedar Bowman - Standing with Bride
Cedar and Aly have known each other for years but have become especially close since their boyfriends (now fiancés) are childhood best friends! Cedar and Aly love to have chill days hanging with their dogs and the guys. Cedar's fiancé Matt will be part of the wedding party as well. Together, they have been amazing friends and a great support system for Michael and Aly. You know you have a good friend when they'll let you back your RV into their front yard and live there for 2+ weeks!
Matt Hannon - Standing with Groom
In the 6th grade Matt invited Michael to his family cabin for the weekend. Neither of them know that a fun weekend full of shooting BB guns, playing Super Nintendo Tetris, skiing, and trying to not get beaten up by Matt’s older brothers was laying the foundation for a life long friendship. Over the last 20 years Matt and Michael have been there for each other through tough times and celebrated the good times. Michael is honored that his oldest friend Matt is standing with him while he gets married.
*Shameless Plug* Matt is a mortgage broker and an amazing and honest person. If you are looking to purchase or refinance a house in WA call him at (253) 411-1586. He is the only mortgage person Aly and Michael work with!
Anne Stowe - Standing with Groom
Anne is Michael's big sister … which is funny to say now if you see them next to each other. At the age of 16 (Michael 6, Anne “taught” Michael how to drive sitting on her lap. They were narc’d on by a neighbor … whom is not invited to the wedding! Anne and Michael have always been close and Anne has been a great support to him. Although unconventional, Anne will be standing with Michael as he marries Aly.
Kate Gledhill - Standing with Groom
Kate is Michael’s other big sister … same joke, he is way bigger now. Kate was their parents go-to “baby” sitter while their parents were away and she would often spend breaks from college watching Michael. This often led to “college parties” that consisted of Kate’s friends coming over, pizza, dance parties, chick flicks … Michael was 10 years old and on top of the world! However the dance parties consisted of some pretty sweet moves, Kate knows them, Michaels knows them, they may do them at the reception. Kate also will be standing with Michael while he commits his life to Aly.
John McRae - Standing with Groom
As the officiant in John and Katie’s wedding, Michael has been known to introduce himself as John’s pastor... But free online ordination or not, John is a great friend. John was introduced to the Fitz/Laris friend circle through his amazing wife Katie. John and Michael first met at a bar on a double date. They drank light beer, good whiskey, and ate steak … it was bromance at first site. You will often find John and Michael smoking or BBQing something together, talking about life and joking with each other … sometimes shirtless.
Sam Lowe - Standing with Groom
Michael met Sam while working guest services at Snoqualmie Pass. Apparently, guest services is where everyone comes when they get hurt which was an interesting introduction to Ski Patrol Sam. After developing a friendship, Sam and Michael rented a cabin on Snoqualmie pass together for 3 to 10 years (depending on how much they are exaggerating that day). Sam and Michael both worked as bartenders in the summer and ski bums in the winter. Sam was a good friend to Michael during tough times and always had something fun to do. They went white water rafting, skied, snow skated, and caused trouble all over the PNW … if you know the stories, don’t tell Michael's mom ;)
