Kansas City has many different districts to explore! We have put our recommendations per district below. Once you are in that district, each recommendation will be walking distance from one another. We have put asterisks by our "must dos!"
To get around the different districts, take the free KC Streetcar. As you read through our recommendations, the different districts follow along the KC Streetcar route. It starts off in the River Market and goes to Union Station.
We currently live in the River Market. We love walking to the market on the weekends and getting fresh produce to cook fun meals and get Alyssa flowers!
Every Saturday & Sunday from 8AM-3PM there are local vendors selling fresh produce, flowers, and other goods. It's a great spot to grab a coffee and walk around.
Local coffee shop. We love their Espresso Martinis!
Local ice cream shop that has delicious ice cream and milkshakes.
Power & Light is a great spot to grab a drink and sit outside to watch a game or listen to live music. In the summer, they have country concerts on Thursday nights called Hot Country Nights. The Gallery is just a few steps from Power & Light!
They serve the famous KC Joe's BBQ!
A local market that is walkable distance from the President. By no means a tourist attraction, however, you can stop in for snacks, hot and ready meals, and alcohol.
If you love distillery tours and prohibition history, this place is for you! They have walk in bar seating or you can book ahead and join their distillery tour. (They give tasters!)
Taps on Main has a self serve draft beer wall and great bar food.
The Crossroads district is very big. For your convenience we have split it up into an East and West side. We do not recommend walking from Crossroads East to Crossroads West. It would be a long walk!
Our absolute favorite spot! They have great beer (Sean approved), cocktails and food. Sean recommends you start off with the Rad AF, it is the cult classic!
Be sure to say hi to Joe & Ben! If you stop in, be sure to tell them you are in town for The Phelan Wedding.
Calling all tequila lovers! Mean Mule has the best agave cocktails in town. Alyssa loves their draft Paloma!
At the Crossroads Hotel you can grab fun cocktails on the roof that over looks the KC Skyline.
A Spanish Tapas style restaurant. You have to get the patatas bravas and the Spanish coffee!
Another great local BBQ spot! They even have bourbon flights from local distilleries to go with your BBQ.
KC's famous brewery! Get a Quirk for Alyssa and a Boulevard Wheat for Sean. You can stop in for a drink, or you can book ahead and take a tour of the brewery.
They have restaurants, stores, and expeditions fun for the whole family!
A great spot to see the KC Skyline! If you like history, the museum is very interesting.
