Alyssa and Colin met on the first day of orientation at the Charleston School of Law in 2016. As she walked up the steps to the library, Alyssa couldn’t help but notice the very handsome blonde in the blue suit. As Colin tells it, he also noticed the cute blonde in the blue dress. They managed to make it through the entire first year without hardly saying a word to each other.
It wasn’t until their second year of law school when they ended up in the same constitutional law class that they became friends. Alyssa loved his sense of humor and Colin loved that he could always snag a good outline from her. But the real story begins a year later just how any love story should...
on the season opener of SEC Football.
Alyssa was bartending at King Street Dispensary for the first Saturday of the 2018 season. Colin, knowing she was behind the bar, came to watch his beloved Florida Gators play. When kick off rolled around, they toasted to their final year of law school with a shot of tequila. Colin spent the rest of the day on his barstool and when Alyssa finished her shift, they went to Rarebit for their first un-official date. From that day on, Alyssa has been a bandwagon Gator fan and Colin found his perfect catch.
Since then, with a lot of love and life lived, Alyssa and Colin have made Charleston their home. Both lovers of the water, their perfect day would be exploring the lowcountry coast on their boat with chicken tender pub subs and a local brew. Colin even managed to get Alyssa interested in fishing (maybe through promises of sunset boat rides and a pink fishing rod for Christmas).
On January 28, 2023, during a weekend getaway to Blue Ridge, Georgia and after hiking 8 miles, Colin asked Alyssa to marry him at the center of the Olympic bridge in Cherokee National Forest. Alyssa was so surprised that she asked at least 10 times if he was kidding. Much to her relief, he was not kidding and she said yes!
