Music brought us together, though our paths nearly crossed many times before. Alyssa studied harp performance at the University of Michigan while Sean studied trumpet at Western Michigan University. They both grew up participating in K-12 Solo and Ensemble competitions, and as they got to know each other, they discovered several near-miss encounters throughout their musical journeys.

They're both water lovers at heart. Sean is from Traverse City, where he grew up along the shores of Lake Michigan, and Alyssa from Cass City near Lake Huron. One of their favorite things to do together is spend time near the water, exploring new beaches, looking for rocks, and swimming in the lake.

Their first date was supposed to be at Farmington Brewery in Farmington Hills, MI... except when they arrived, it was trivia night and absolutely packed! They pivoted to an arcade next door instead, where they talked for hours until the space filled with energetic children. Determined to continue their conversation, they found a quiet pub up the street where they could keep getting to know each other.

Cooking together has become one of their favorite pastimes. Some of their earliest dates involved taking turns sharing music recommendations while preparing meals together and for one another. They want their wedding celebration to reflect what they love most—great music, delicious food, and quality time with the people they cherish by the lake.
