Trails to Explore

Picture of Trails to Explore

Ensign Peak: short and scenic hike with big rewards. This trail is less than a mile each way and offers sweeping views of the Salt Lake Valley, especially stunning at sunset. It’s a historic site too—early settlers climbed to this very peak to survey the valley. It’s a great choice for all skill levels and perfect if you want a memorable view without a long trek. Keep in mind, it is a short hike but very steep!

Living Room Trail: 2.5 miles round-trip and gains roughly 1,000 feet in elevation. Perfect for sitting and enjoying panoramic views of the city. This trail starts near the University of Utah and is ideal for a morning or late afternoon hike. Moderate difficulty.

Parleys Pointe Trail: this moderately challenging hike spans 4.8 miles one-way and typically takes about 2 hours and 10 minutes to complete. With an elevation gain of 1,132 feet, it offers a steady incline and rewarding panoramas without overwhelming newer hikers.

Grandeur Peak (Face) Trailhead: this 2.7-mile trail may seem short, but don’t be fooled—it packs a punch with a steep elevation gain of 1,046 feet in a relatively short distance. Rated 3.5 out of 5 for difficulty, it’s a direct and rewarding route to the summit, perfect for hikers looking for a quick yet intense climb close to the city.
