I had just returned home from the UK as I was living there for a short work assignment. A month had passed since returning, and Hope Sheedy, a friend from dance, texted me that she knew a guy that she wanted to introduce me to. She didn't give me much information other than 1) she went to college with him, 2) he loves the Lord (obvi), 3) business guy, 4) super goofy and fun, 5) always has spontaneous ideas, 6) active, 7) sings and plays for worship, 8) loves his mama so much, 9) has a great family from the Delafield area, and 10) he wants a family one day.
I took a few days to pray about it, not because of anything to do with him, but because at the same time my father was going through chemo and radiation for his cancer. It was a new season for the Wulf family, and it seemed like a lot to try and date someone while I was living at home with my parents during this unknown time. Two days later, after feeling some peace about the date, I texted Hope back that I was interested in meeting Nathan.
That SAME DAY (October 6th), I got a text from him asking me out on our first date. :) He said Hey Alyssa, Nathan here! Hope told me to reach out to you, would you be interested in going out on a date in the next few days? BOLD. It was my first time ever going on a date with someone I didn't know, plus I had no idea what he even looked like. On October 8th, we met at the First Watch in Pewaukee after church for our first blind date..... eeeeek!!
The first few things I remember about him were 1) his hair (because it was LONG at this point), 2) his beautiful blue eyes, 3) his perfect smile. We spent 3 hours at First Watch talking away about our lives and having a blast. The waitress kept coming over to tell us to eat because we couldn't take a big enough break from talking to even take a few bites. We had so many things in common especially life experiences that we couldn't believe. It was the best date I could've asked for, he truly was a dream come true!
As we were walking out, he asked me on a second date (bold), and told me it would have to be Monday or Tuesday as he leaves for a work trip on Wednesday (even more bold). We went to trivia with his close friends the next day, and we never stopped trying to see each other every day after that.
We clicked right away, and it couldn't have been anything or anyone but Jesus (through Hope) who brought us together so perfectly. :) Nathan Daniel, I cannot wait to spend the rest of my days with you!
It was the fall of 2023 when I received a text from a dear friend of mine, Miss Hope Sheedy. She was asking if I was interested in going on a blind date. This was completely out of the blue and caught me off guard. Before answering her, I had to dwell on it for a few days. In college, I was the one to set up my friends with dates (3 for 3 on them marrying, bit of a hot streak and you ALWAYS retire when hot). Safe to say, God had to work on my pride in those few days, because once I warmed up to the idea, Miss Hope was on it!
Once I told Miss Hope I was ready, all I asked to know about the date was if she knew Jesus and loved country music. After coming back with those two green lights, it was game time. I admit, I was a little blunt with the first text being something near to "Hope told me to ask you on a date, are you free tomorrow?"
Blunt or not, IT WORKED! We went on our first date on October 8th, 2023 at First Watch post church. I had only seen one picture of her, so I was praying I'd recognize her with all nerves I was feeling. Thankfully, I didn't mistake her and we talked for over 2 hours. The waitress was giving us a hard time for how long it was taking us to order, we couldn't stop talking! From church, work, and family, little did we know that it was the beginning of something so beautiful, a true gift given from Jesus. After such an electric date, asking her on a second date was the easiest decision EVER.
After that, well, that was the beginning of the most blissful year. We walked through a lot in just one year of dating, but through it all, I wanted to do it with her. Her love for Jesus and family, her pure joy, and ability to take pleasure in the little things are just a few of the many things I fell in love with in our year of dating. I cannot wait to marry you Alyssa, it's just the beginning!!
OK BUT WE ALL AGREE ON HOW BEAUTIFUL SHE IS?! Ugh I can't wait to see her in a white dress.
