Amanda: Grew up in West Reading, PA with her parents Bryan and Rose, and two sisters Lindsey (the twin) and Chloe.

Matt: Grew up in Omaha, NE with his parents Don and Peggy, and sister Madeline.

Matt found his way to Reading, PA in 2017 via his work at Burns & McDonnell. One of the ways he met friends while living away from home was at the CrossFit gym.

In 2019, a lovely lady named Amanda was brought to the gym by Matt’s mutual friend Lila. Amanda started attending gym classes and working the front desk at the gym. Matt noticed that Amanda was not like the other girls in Reading, and realized he couldn’t screw this one up. He had to play it slow.

After signing in to the CrossFit class as Dr. Matt Brown, and sharing a few dad jokes in class, Amanda’s interest was piqued. Was he a real doctor? Or did “he just play one on TV” like he said? She decided to hang out with Lila to gather more intel.

After a year of becoming friends through mutual hangouts in West Reading and CrossFit gym classes, a perfect opportunity arose: Matt’s Leap Year house party on Feb 29, 2020.

Matt took this opportunity to overimbibe and muster up the courage to ask Amanda out. They went to Plaza Azteca for tacos and margaritas the next day, and love was put into motion.

As you may recall, shortly after Leap Day in 2020, the world shut down, along with CrossFit gyms. Matt had no choice but to buy every dumbbell and kettlebell he could find at Dick’s Sporting Goods, and ask Amanda if she wanted to come workout on his apartment patio + make dinner. She obliged, and the blessing in disguise of a world pandemic offered the perfect opportunity to spend time with each other over several months.

Amanda & Matt have shared many great experiences in their 4 year courtship:

-Working through challenges and opportunities in their careers

-Travel across the country to UT, AZ, NV, TX, KC, NE, IA, IL, NC, NJ, and all around PA.

-Weddings with Matt and Amanda’s friends

-Practicing the skills of listening-before-speaking and proper hydration with their family members of Italian and Irish descent. (Kidding)

-Working out at the gym and exploring the outdoors

-Getting to know each other through our shared passions, growing in our faith, and sharing our love for accomplishing hard things

-Spending time with our families

Amanda & Matt are excited for the next chapter and are grateful for each day, and look forward to building a family and doing more of all those great things!
