Amanda: After a summer internship at Legends Ranch, I signed on to stay in Northern Michigan. I would spend a whole year adventuring on my own before downloading Bumble and matching with Tyler.

Tyler: From our very first date I knew we'd get along.


She was absolutely mortified and apologized profusely for being 10 minutes late at most.


She also went out of her way to point out the deer poop stain on her only good pair of jeans.


We spent hours geocaching around town and talking about life. I told her "you're my kind of people". It was probably too early to tell at the time but I ended up being right.

Amanda: Two weeks after our first date, Tyler convinced me to tag along on a dirt biking road trip to Ann Arbor. Tyler forgot to think about eating, and by 5pm I was starting to panic after already having eaten all the snacks I packed. Tyler quickly learned to anticipate my hunger habits.

Tyler: Amanda joined my family in northern Michigan for our annual "Christmas in July". She quickly surpassed me as the family favorite.

Tyler: We babysat my mother's dog Lady. We got to take her on nightly walks through the ranch. We all enjoyed it. Except for maybe the cat.

Tyler: We celebrated our anniversary by taking a weekend trip to Frankenmuth. Amanda was very brave considering how cold it was and dinner was well past her bedtime.

Amanda: When Tyler and I met, I told him I would have to move back home to Florida someday.


His response? "I could live in Florida."


I said, "I haven't asked you to come with me yet!"


But by the time I was ready to leave Michigan, I couldn't imagine doing it without him. I don't know that I ever did ask him specifically, we just knew we'd take the leap together. If a relationship can withstand a 1,349 mile move, it can weather anything.

Amanda: For our first anniversary in Florida, we did a sunrise-to-sunset road trip across the state, from Cape Canaveral National Seashore to Honeymoon Island State Park.

Amanda: Tyler asked me to marry him during the solar eclipse. We shared pub subs and Publix cookies, and he gave me (back) my grandmother's ring. My grandfather found the 1 carat diamond under a park bench more than 50 years ago, and had it set into a thin gold band for my grandmother, who passed away in 2007. I was gifted the ring on my 18th birthday, and always dreamed of being proposed to with it. We chose another, personal ring together, with the 5 diamonds on it representing each of the years we spent together before promising each other forever.
