Amanda &amp; Jacob were introduced by Jacob's sister-in-law, Grace Sell, and Amanda's friend (&amp; Grace's sister), Liz Thiede. After a couple weeks of getting to know each other, Jacob &amp; Amanda went on their first date to Antojitos Mexicanos in Appleton on January 18th, 2023. While expressing their life goals and love for Adam Sandler movies and 60's music, they decided to continue the date at Player 2, an arcade bar downtown. Their love story full of tacos, tequila, and competitiveness continues to this day.

The First Date

What Amanda expected to be a couples photo session to get professional pictures for decorating the house was actually an engagement session! Jacob proposed to Amanda on the shores of Lake Michigan in Sheboygan, WI (specifically at Kohler-Andrae State Park).

After the ceremony, we recommend driving a route less-traveled to avoid a busy highway 41. You can use your GPS to route through Menasha, Neenah, and along the Lake Winnebago shoreline to arrive in Oshkosh.

For your convenience, the bride & groom have reserved a block of rooms at each hotel listed below. If you plan to stay at a hotel, please book a room well in advance.

Uber and other rideshare services may be available for transportation, if desired.

You must book a room with this block by May 27th to receive discounted price. This hotel is only 0.5 miles from The Gibson Social Club (a 10 minute walk). We highly recommend reserving this hotel if you would like to walk vs. drive to and from the reception. You may use the link to book through the block, or call. Oshkosh Waterfront Hotel & Convention Center

This hotel is 3.5 miles away from The Gibson Social Club (approximately a 12 minute drive). If you want a bit of separation and privacy from the downtown Oshkosh area, we recommend booking here. If you need a little caffeine pick-me-up, the Elsewhere Market and Coffee House is Amanda and Jake’s go-to coffee shop in Oshkosh. Do a little shopping there while you sip on your drink.

If you're finding yourself with some free time, check out some bars &amp; restaurants! Walking distance to The Gibson Social Club are some of Amanda and Jake’s favorite bars in Oshkosh: Bar 430, Fletch's Local Tap House, The Varsity Club, The Ruby Owl Tap Room, and Winners Sports Bar &amp; Grill. A longer walk will bring you to the Fox River, with some great restaurants right on the water. Some of these are Dockside Tavern, Beckets, and the Ground Round Bar &amp; Grill.
