Fort Knox is very close by, it is a historical site and it is also presumed to be haunted, I highly suggest checking it out. There is also an observation tower that over looks the water and has an amazing view
The curse of Colonel Buck is well known in the area and I highly suggest looking at the grave if you are just driving around. The story goes that Colonel Buck had sentenced a witch to death during the witch trials. When she was sentenced to be burned she had cursed the Colonel. Once he had died and a gravestone was placed on his gravesite a witches foot had appeared. They have tried to clean the foot off and even replaced the stone however, the witches foot always reappears.
Yes! Bangor has a Casino. If you are feeling lucky then why not try your luck at the slots! It is also a hotel so you can stay and play. I do know some people that have won money at this casino!
There is always Waterfront concerts going on during the summer in Bangor. Even if you don't want to get tickets you can walk around downtown Bangor and hear the music for miles!
For those of you with kids I highly suggest the discovery museum in downtown Bangor. I have taken my nephew here and it was tons of fun for not just him but the adults also!
If you like horror then I would recommend taking a drive around where the king of horror lives, and check out his house and the locations that inspired many of his stories. The town of Derry from the movie 'It' is based on Bangor, Maine. Below I listed locations that were represented in the movies. There is also a Stephen King tour that you can take that explains these locations more.

Downtown Bangor has so much to do! From restaurants to shopping! You can also just go for a stroll along the waterfront.
This is one of my favorite theatres. If you like musicals or theatre shows then I highly suggest checking out one of their shows. The actors are amazing and the building itself is beautiful!
Are you up for a challenge? Then I would check out Bangor Escape Rooms. I have done a few of these rooms myself. The rooms are unique and the staff are friendly.
About an hour from the venue is Bar Harbor Maine. This is a beautiful costal town. There are shops and restaurants all along the street. There are also some amazing ocean views all around!
Why not go whale watching? Bar Harbor has whale watching, I do believe that you do need to buy tickets ahead of time and it does depend on the weather on if they go out.
Are you feeling adventurous? I would recommend Acadia National park. At the top of this mountain is some of the best views of Maine.
Right in Downtown Bangor, this is one of our favorite noodle bars. It is a great place to get ramen and you can customize everything.
A great sports bar in the area. They also have really good homemade chips
If you a want to go to a famous Maine restaurant that I recommend Dysarts! Before you go I highly suggest you watch the viral video about the Buttery Flaky Crust, and also the SNL skit about it
Want a good breakfast of lunch place? Then I would say Bagel Central is your place. The line can get long but trust me when I say it is worth it. They have so many types of bagels that they make right there.
If you want to eat at a Maine staple then I would say Governor's is that place. It has a small town restaurant food and their desserts are to die for.
Sea Dogs is a Maine based beer company. They have traditional ales and lagers. I would recommend the Blue Paw Wild Blueberry Ale, it is one of my favorites. They also have some great food as well.
Harvest Moon Deli is a great place to get a quick lunch. They have very unique sandwiches with some really cool names. There are multiple locations in the Bangor area.
