Yo ya estaba decidida a irme, así que me despedí de nuevo y comencé a caminar hacia la salida. El bar era estrecho y, justo en el camino, estaba el chico de los que tanto habíamos hablado. Nuestras miradas se cruzaron, y en ese instante me atreví a decirle:“You have one of the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen”. Amanda's Point of ViewOne night, after the Fallapalooza concert at Creighton, a group of friends convinced me to go out to the bars in Blackstone, even though I was on antibiotics and couldn’t drink alcohol. Everyone insisted, including my roommate, Eliana, who wouldn’t let me leave the apartment without lipstick —&nbsp;“just in case.”&nbsp;Since I couldn’t drink, I ended up driving my friend Gisselle’s car, which she had lent us for the weekend. When I arrived in Blackstone, my groups of friends split up between two bars that were right next to each other. I spent the night going back and forth, but after a couple of hours I decided it was time to head home. I first said goodbye to the group at&nbsp;Bar 39, and even though I offered them a ride home, they said no. Then I went to&nbsp;Blackstone Social, where the Dominican group was hanging out. As soon as I arrived, a friend asked me to dance with her to try to get a guy’s attention, but he kept moving around and paid us no mind — the basketball game on TV was clearly the only thing holding his attention. When I went to say goodbye to the rest of the group, a friend made a comment about the guy standing right behind me. It turned out to be the same one we had been trying to get to notice us just minutes earlier. Curious, I turned around, and when I saw him, I couldn’t help but say:&nbsp;“Yes, he’s cute… and he has beautiful eyes.”&nbsp;I encouraged my friends to go up to him and make the first move, but they quickly said no — they were tired of always being the ones to go first without any luck. By then, I had already decided to leave, so I said goodbye once more and started walking toward the exit. The bar was narrow, and right in my path stood the guy we had been talking about all night. Our eyes met, and in that instant, I gathered the courage to say:“You have one of the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.” I kept walking toward the door, but before I could leave, he stopped me and asked:&nbsp;“Thank you… what’s your name?”That simple question opened the most wonderful conversation: we talked for over an hour about travel and all the places we dreamed of visiting. If it hadn’t been for that small moment of courage, maybe our story would have never begun. And now, three and a half years later, not only have we visited many of those places we talked about that first night, but we’re also celebrating the most important thing of all: the beginning of the rest of our lives together.

Recommendations: While downtown Austin is walkable, most other parts of the city are not easily accessible on foot. If you’re planning to explore different neighborhoods or try a variety of local restaurants, we highly recommend renting a car.If you’re not comfortable driving or prefer not to rent a vehicle, ride-sharing apps like Uber and Lyft are a great alternative and work well throughout the city—especially useful for getting to and from wedding events. Please note: since the wedding reception will be held outside the main city area, it may be difficult to find available Ubers or Lyfts for the return trip to Austin. We are currently exploring additional transportation options for guests returning to the city. If you are not planning on driving to the wedding, we recommend you to download the app Fetti which is a rideshare option like Uber/Lyft but with more people in a mini van.
