We are excited to share some of our favorite things to do in Charleston!

If you are looking for something to do early on Saturday, check out Bridge Day at the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville, WV! The bridge is closed to traffic and people BASE jump into the river below. This is WV's largest single day festival and is known world-wide. This is a little over an hour from Charleston, but be prepared for additional traffic.

Our favorite restaurants:

- 1010 Bridge: An upscale American restaurant that offers a modern take on some favorite Appalachian dishes.

- Pie's and Pints: One of the best pizza restaurants in Charleston. The Pies and Pints restaurant chain originated in West Virginia!

- Kita Modern Japanese

- Lefty's Pizza: Amazing Detroit style pizza located in Short Story Brewing

-Hale House: Has a fun speakeasy in the basement! Try the chocolate covered raspberry martini!

-Ristorante Abruzzi: All of their bread and pasta is made fresh at Charleston Bread Company

- The Lookout at Eagle View: Casual food, but the views from the restaurant at the top of the mountain are stunning!

-Barkadas: A Filipino restaurant that has great cocktails

- Ellen's Ice Cream: It's a must try. Trust us

- Fife Street Brewing

- Short Story Brewing

Things to do:

- Capital Market: An indoor-outdoor farmers market located in a repurposed train station. Voted one of the best open air farmers markets in the country! Also has multiple restaurants, a coffee shop, a gourmet chocolate shop, and a wine and cheese shop!

- Carriage trail: Take a casual hike to the top of one of Charleston's mountains for a scenic view of the city

- The West Virginia state capital: Consistently voted in the top 5 most beautiful state capital buildings in the country

- Capital Street downtown: A beautiful brick street lined with restaurants, shops, and the amazing Ellen's Ice Cream shop. Check out Taylor Books while you're there!

- Kanawha State Forrest: Beautiful hiking

- Axe throwing downtown

- Rage room: Located in Tickers & Timbers
