In a world before the times of Covid, two school teachers, Nick and Aly (a nickname derived from the initials of Amanda Lee York) met in the library of Hamburg Area High School while participating in a new teacher training program. Aly stayed in the training program one year longer than was required so that she could "learn more" or maybe it was because she had heard about this cute boy that would be there. On Halloween night in 2019, Nick messaged Aly on Facebook and said that he wanted to say hi back in the library when they first saw each other, but didn't get the chance to (meaning he was too nervous, but he'll never admit that). After talking for about a week or so they eventually went out on their first date to Roman Delight along Route 61 in Orwigsburg. They enjoyed sharing conversations and laughs while drinking Miller Lites. From that night on, they proved to have a connection and eventually became inseparable, and I'm not talking about Nick and Miller Lites!!!

They came to love each other, and after spending the quarantine of the Covid-19 pandemic together, Aly thought it would be a good idea to invite Nick to move in with her at her apartment in Temple, PA, in September of 2020.

After sharing the apartment for a couple of months, Nick and Aly agreed that they would start looking for a house together. Come October of 2021, their long hunt for their first home eventually settled them in Hamburg, PA, where they have enjoyed being residents of the same school district that employs them.

Finally, on February 11, 2022, after asking Aly's parents for their blessing, Nick took Aly "ice skating" at the Folino Estate Winery outside of Kutztown where he struggled through ice skating long enough to eventually get down on one knee and ask the question he's wanted to for a long time. With Aly saying "Yes" and a few pictures later, the newly engaged couple were on their way to planning their big day.

The journey of becoming a married couple will end on June 10, 2023, when Nick and Aly exchange vows and say "I do" while being surrounded by family and friends. So let's smile, raise a glass, and say cheers to "The McBreens."
