Our Wedding

In a world before the times of Covid, two school teachers, Nick and Aly (a nickname derived from the initials of Amanda Lee York) met in the library of Hamburg Area High School while participating in a new teacher training program. Aly stayed in the training program one year longer than was required so that she could "learn more" or maybe it was because she had heard about this cute boy that would be there. On Halloween night in 2019, Nick messaged Aly on Facebook and said that he wanted to say hi back in the library when they first saw each other, but didn't get the chance to (meaning he was too nervous, but he'll never admit that). After talking for about a week or so they eventually went out on their first date to Roman Delight along Route 61 in Orwigsburg. They enjoyed sharing conversations and laughs while drinking Miller Lites. From that night on, they proved to have a connection and eventually became inseparable, and I'm not talking about Nick and Miller Lites!!! They came to love each other, and after spending the quarantine of the Covid-19 pandemic together, Aly thought it would be a good idea to invite Nick to move in with her at her apartment in Temple, PA, in September of 2020. After sharing the apartment for a couple of months, Nick and Aly agreed that they would start looking for a house together. Come October of 2021, their long hunt for their first home eventually settled them in Hamburg, PA, where they have enjoyed being residents of the same school district that employs them. Finally, on February 11, 2022, after asking Aly's parents for their blessing, Nick took Aly "ice skating" at the Folino Estate Winery outside of Kutztown where he struggled through ice skating long enough to eventually get down on one knee and ask the question he's wanted to for a long time. With Aly saying "Yes" and a few pictures later, the newly engaged couple were on their way to planning their big day. The journey of becoming a married couple will end on June 10, 2023, when Nick and Aly exchange vows and say "I do" while being surrounded by family and friends. So let's smile, raise a glass, and say cheers to "The McBreens."

Matron's of Honor - Kaitlyn Gehris and Erin Hughes

Kaitlyn and Aly have been friends since they were in elementary school. They played basketball, soccer, and volleyball together throughout school and were always having sleepovers and spending time together. Kaitlyn is one of Aly’s longest and best friends!

Erin and Aly have been friends since elementary school. Like Kaitlyn, Erin and Aly played soccer, basketball, and volleyball together throughout school. You would find them at one of their houses playing manhunt, capture the flag, eating lots of food, or doing scavenger hunts. Erin is one of Aly’s longest friends as well!

Shauna York Shauna and Aly are cousins. They became close when they needed each other the most. They enjoyed their time together by having sleepovers at their apartments, shopping sprees, and lots of dancing on their nights out together.

Danielle VanBuren-Connolly Danielle and Aly met at college Junior year playing volleyball . They quickly became friends and spent most weekends hanging out together. Their parents bonded over volleyball roadtrips and after graduation they continued to keep in touch. Now, the York's and the VanBuren's are like family.

Ali Zajac The picture speaks for itself. Ali and Aly have been close since they played AAU basketball together. Ali and Aly were often known as Al squared. They spent many weekend nights together laughing and dancing, beating boys in pick up basketball, and getting into trouble.

Jocelyn Schlegel Jocelyn and Aly were roommates in college from Sophomore year until they graduated. They both loved to workout, have fun, and dress up. You could find them dancing on tables, laughing and enjoying themselves, spooking people with masks, or throwing parties.

Groomsmen

Jonathan McBreen- The Best ManThere is no one who knows Nick better than his brother Jon, so making him the "Best Man" was an easy task on Nick's part. Whether it is on the golf course, playing basketball, or the times when Jon crashes at Nick's house to be closer to work, they will always find a moment to smile and laugh, ensuring that a good time is to be had.

Matthew RobertsThe one who could be considered the "3rd brother" to Nick and Jon, Matty has been a part of Nick's life from the time he was born up until the day of Nick's wedding. If Nick was taking a walk through the woods, playing sports, or spending time with family, chances are Matty was there, meaning that Nick's wedding day will be no different.

Patrick McBreenNick and Patrick, or "Pat," always had a special bond. Being that they are first cousins, Patrick found it necessary to name Nick as Godfather of his first child, Mylah, who is also in the above photo. As cousins and friends, Nick and Pat share an understanding of the sincere importance of family.

Travis YorkOne thing that Nick will always appreciate about his future brother-in-law, Travis, is how welcoming he was at the beginning of Nick and Aly's relationship. The sincere opinions and honesty that accompany Travis are 2 traits that Nick has come to admire and find truly humorous. Also, feel free to enjoy the photo of the future father-in-law, Mr Tom York, who is included standing in the middle of the above photo.

Dakota Pritz and Christopher MurphyThe 2 final groomsmen are Dakota Pritz and Chris Murphy. Nick met these 2 at the age of 5 while attending Good Shepherd pre-school. Even though Nick was the first to leave for Minersville Elementary in Kindergarten, he was eventually able to continue his friendship with Chris and Dakota come 3rd and 4th grade. Through playing sports, attending social gatherings, and taking different trips, these three have formed a friendship that will last a lifetime, making it only appropriate that Dakota and Chris stand with Nick on his wedding day.
