HOTELS

As of now, there is no reserved block of rooms to allow guests more flexibility. There are many great options of hotels with there being 15 hotels within 10 miles of the wedding venue and 25 hotels being within 25 miles. Hotel prices are higher booking far in advance. There is a link below that serves as a great resource for comparing hotels based on cost, distance, and brand. However, almost all the prices in the link are much more expensive than booking directly with the hotel or another booking tool. Airports

The closest airport is Lynchburg Regional Airport (LYH). Besides Charlotte (CLT) there are no direct flights to LYH, and all flights are operated by American Airlines with a connection flight in CLT. Both the rehearsal dinner and wedding venue are about a 10-15 minute drive away from LYH with the majority of the hotels on the way. This is the good option for flying in and ridesharing. Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA) has multiple airlines operators and is around a 75 minutes/55 miles drive to the rehearsal dinner and wedding venue. This is an option for flying and renting a car. Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Airport (CHO) has multiple airline operators and is around a 90 minutes/80 miles drive to the rehearsal dinner and wedding venue. This is an option for flying and renting a car. Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) has multiple airline operators and is around a 115 minutes/115 miles drive to the rehearsal dinner and wedding venue. This is an option for flying and renting a car. Richmond International Airport (RIC) has multiple airline operators and is around a 145 minute and 150 miles drive to the rehearsal dinner and wedding venue. This is an option for flying and renting a car.

Lynchburg Community Market 

Drive or walk around the beautiful campus of Liberty University! Click the website link to see a birds-eye view of the campus. The campus is about a 10 minute drive away from the Wedding Venue or a 5 minute drive away from most hotels. Tour anytime, and school will be in session for college kids!

Explore Liberty University

An excellent option for those with kids, and this is an award winning place that serves over 90,000 guests a year. The kids museum takes around 2 hours to explore according to the website (https://www.amazementsquare.org/). The kids museum is in downtown Lynchburg and about a 10 minute drive from the wedding venue or a 15 minute drive from most of the hotels. Amazement Square (Kids Musuem)

A festive Halloween event ran by Liberty University. They advise ages 13 and up. A 40-minute journey, passing through creepy trails, dark woods and eventually entering the House. 7:30-11:00 pm every night and prices are $12. The location is about 5 minutes from the wedding venue and 5-10 minutes from most hotels.

SCAREMARE 2025 

It’s open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (with ticket sales ending at 4:30 PM). Prices are 15$ for adults, $10 for children (6-18) and veterans, and free for active duty military. We connected through the dating app Coffee Meets Bagel and exchanged many messages. Our first date included a lovely facetime conversation on Halloween evening, October 31, 2023. Michael was immediately drawn to Amaris's friendly, kind, and selfless nature, while Amaris appreciated how Michael quickly shared his faith and testimony. Our first in-person date, a lovely stroll through a farmers market in Quakertown on a fall November afternoon further revealed how deeply our shared faith and love for Jesus Christ mattered to both of us. By December 1st 2023, it was clear we were meant to be together, and we officially became a couple.&nbsp; Several of our initial encounters took place in shopping malls, where we engaged in in-depth discussions and recognized a mutual alignment of values and priorities, especially concerning family.&nbsp;&nbsp;We declared our love for each other on December 16th, 2023, and were blessed to be able to spend our first Christmas together in 2023. Following this, we celebrated Valentine's Day as each other's first and only Valentine. This event held particular significance, given that we were both in our late twenties.&nbsp;&nbsp; Michael first met Amaris' family during Resurrection/Easter weekend in 2024. He felt very welcomed by the family, appreciating their loving, close-knit, supportive, and communicative nature. Amaris was introduced to Michael's family in May, where she immediately felt included and cared for. It quickly became apparent that the kindness, sincerity, and thoughtfulness exhibited by Michael were qualities shared by all members of his family, who had significantly influenced the person he is today. Our relationship developed through reading scripture together, attending church services, going on vacations, spending time at home, and enjoying sushi dates. Toward the end of August, we began to have serious discussions and prayers about marriage.&nbsp;&nbsp; We commenced our pre-marriage counseling on August 25, 2024, with Uncle Rick, a close family friend of Amaris and her family. Uncle Rick officiated the weddings of Amaris' parents and her sister Sirena, and is also scheduled to officiate our wedding! Uncle Rick had been praying for Amaris since she was born and has a very special connection through Christ. Through pre-marital counseling with Uncle Rick, we gained deeper insights into each other and learned how to honor God in a Christian marriage. One of the key lessons we acquired was the importance of following Ephesians 5:21-33 by mutually submitting to Christ and each other, loving unconditionally, and practicing selflessness. Following our completion of pre-engagement counseling and Michael receiving the blessing of Amaris' family, the proposal constituted the final step towards our engagement.&nbsp; Michael decided to propose around Christmas time when Amaris’ family could be present. The location was at a very special location that would later become their wedding ceremony venue. He orchestrated an impressive surprise for Amaris by collaborating with her sisters to create the impression that Jordan, one Amaris' three sisters, was having a swearing-in ceremony as a lawyer. On December 26, the family dressed formally for what Amaris believed to be Jordan’s ceremony and went to the chapel where Michael expressed his commitment to spend his life with Amaris and his intention to honor God by loving her as Christ loves the church. She happily and without hesitation said YES! Sirena and Pete (Amaris’ sister and brother-in-law) graciously captured the special moment, which can be viewed in the photos section. The Old Pate Chapel, where the engagement took place, was subsequently chosen as the wedding ceremony venue. They are thrilled to be married at Old Pate and to have everyone be a part of their joyous occasion, either in person or online. We are so blessed to have family and friends join us in celebrating the beginning of our marriage.

You and Mom prayed&nbsp;that we would find&nbsp;Godly husbands someday who do the same&nbsp;-&nbsp;put the Lord first,&nbsp;and&nbsp;to&nbsp;love and honor their family&nbsp;as the Bible&nbsp;instructs. I’ve often been jealous for more time with you, and that you could meet Michael, but you probably have learned a lot about him from your view in heaven. Pearl Chuck was Michael’s grandmother and the matriarch of the Chuck family. And quite a family she cultivated with 7 children, 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Pearl went to be with God in 2019 at the age of 91, but will never be forgotten for her love of family and God. She was born in the hills of Jamaica in 1927. Her husband, James died when her youngest child was only 2 years old, leaving her with 7 children to raise on her own. Pearl immigrated to the United States in 1972, settling in New York. Eventually she moved to Florida to support two of her daughters. Pearl was loving, caring, and kind to Michael along with the rest of her children and grandchildren. She was always busy in the kitchen cooking various Jamaican dish specialties, but was never too busy to stop to talk, laugh, and give advice to anyone who asked. Pearl had a great smile and a wonderful laugh. She was a fierce competitor playing dominoes and was willing to stay up well past midnight if anyone was visiting. Pearl loved soap operas along with watching ice skating and tennis. Pearl always made herself available by helping with cooking when a new grandchild was born, and she loved to hold the latest addition to the growing Chuck family. She would always be at her grandchildren’s high school and college graduations if she was able to travel. She was so proud of her family and encouraged everyone to get an education and pursue their dreams. We know she would be so happy for Michael that he had found the love of his life and would have been fond of Amaris. We have a strong faith that Mama Pearl is in heaven and her loving, caring spirit will be with us at the wedding. -Arthur Chuck
