Amelia and Will’s love story began in Kalamazoo, MI, back in 2018. Amelia was in graduate school at Western Michigan University and Will was home in Grand Rapids, waiting to start medical school at Michigan State University. Raer, a hometown friend of Amelia's and a college friend of Will’s, had a hopeful proposition: she was visiting Amelia for Thanksgiving and had been planning an introduction for weeks. Pictures had been shown, stories had been told, and Will planned to join the girls for dinner and drinks. With his Steelers jersey on, extra gear to share, and some nerves and excitement, Will and Amelia shared their first snowy night at Hopcat ... with very little attention to Raer.

Will did indeed fall in love that night but it wasn’t just with Amelia. Upon the three returning to Amelia’s studio apartment due to a snowstorm, Amelia’s kitten, Mazy, cuddled with Will immediately, when she had never cuddled anyone but Amelia before. (They say animals know the good ones.)

As it turns out, Mazy moved in with Will before Amelia did, keeping him company during his first year of med school while Amelia stayed in Kalamazoo finishing her speech pathology degree. Amelia, originally from Connecticut, fell in love with Michigan — and Will, decided to stay in Detroit for work. A long-distance relationship followed for the next three years. They were finally reunited as a family when they moved to Ferndale, MI in 2021, adding Will’s cat, Sergio along the way.

Amelia, Mazy & Sergio have continued to support Will in his medical career, moving to Pittsburgh in June 2023 to start residency at his top program… or was it to cheer on the Steelers.

Will asked Amelia to marry him on November 3, 2023. He proposed in their Pittsburgh apartment, surround by pictures from the last 5 years. It was the quickest and easiest “yes” she’s ever said. Amelia and Will could not be more thrilled to begin this next chapter of their life together. After 6 years of dating, and in front of their close family and friends they will tie the knot on June 28, 2025.
