For those of you who will be in on Wednesday we are going on a bar crawl in the afternoon in the French Quarter. So just check into your hotels and join us wherever bar we may be at when you arrive! Nightlife is integral to New Orleans. Locals know how to have a good time, and that doesn’t just mean boozing in Bourbon Street. Check out Frenchmen Street, it hosts the best concentration of music gigs in the city. Our favorite spots are Spotted Cat and D.B.A. The Garden District excludes Old Southern excess with its historic mansions, lush greenery and upscale boutiques. Hop on the St Charles streetcar and ride the St Charles line. It is by far the best way of experiencing this cityscape. Checkout Lafayette Cemetery No 1 and then walk over to Commander’s Palace for lunch for a 25 cent martini. If you have time to explore outside in NOLA , head down the bayou and experience Cajun culture full of swamps, alligators and oil. Other trips worth taking include River Road Plantations, Lafayette & Breaux Bridge and St Francisville. There is so much to do in this exciting city, Peter and I love the beauty, great food and unceasing music it has to bring.
