One June evening after high school graduation, Amy Kravas Hagedorn sat across a campfire from Peter Joseph Shimp. The campfire wasn't the only thing sparking that night if you know what we mean ;) Peter could not get Amy's sweet laugh and stunning beauty out of his head so like any confident 18 year old male would do.......he asked her friend Carlee to talk to her for him. Amy was thrilled Peter was interested in her so their first date was arranged. The summer of 2008 became the summer of love and the start of a beautiful relationship. Time to get a little cliché…The pair went through ups a downs but always knew they would end up together. Fast forward nine years later, and Peter finally sealed the deal (talk about out kicking your coverage). They decided to celebrate their marriage in the exciting city of New Orleans. The couple fell in love with the city in 2015 after taking a week long vacation dancing, eating, and laughing their way through the Big Easy. They hope that their closest friends and family will join them in April of 2018 in this unique and vibrant city full of music, culture, history, and good grub. Hope to see you there #BigShimpin2018

The ceremony and reception will be held at the Maison Dupuy Hotel. We have blocked rooms for Thursday 4/19, Friday 4/20 and Saturday 4/21. You are welcome to book rooms here or anywhere you like during your visit! We already have guests booking other hotels in the French Quarter and Garden District as well as renting homes through Vacation By Owner, <a href="https://www.vrbo.com/">https://www.vrbo.com/</a> or Airbnb, <a href="https://www.airbnb.com/">https://www.airbnb.com/</a> .

It is about a 25 minute drive from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport to the French Quarter. We recommend taking a cab from the airport rather than renting a car. If you're staying in the French Quarter or close by in the Central Business district, you won't need a car. You'll be within walking distance of the most popular restaurants, sights to see and other destinations. If you want to go somewhere else there's the beautiful and historic streetcars that can take you take you to locations like City Park and the Garden District. If the streetcar isn't going exactly where you're headed, there's an abundance of taxis throughout the city that would be more than willing to help you get there.

For those of you who will be in on Wednesday we are going on a bar crawl in the afternoon in the French Quarter. So just check into your hotels and join us wherever bar we may be at when you arrive!



Nightlife is integral to New Orleans. Locals know how to have a good time, and that doesn’t just mean boozing in Bourbon Street. Check out Frenchmen Street, it hosts the best concentration of music gigs in the city. Our favorite spots are Spotted Cat and D.B.A.  



The Garden District excludes Old Southern  excess with its historic mansions, lush greenery and upscale boutiques. Hop on the St Charles streetcar and ride the St Charles line. It is by far the best way of experiencing this cityscape. Checkout Lafayette Cemetery No 1 and then walk over to Commander’s Palace  for lunch for a 25 cent martini. 


If you have time to explore outside in NOLA , head down the bayou and experience Cajun culture full of swamps, alligators and oil. Other trips worth taking include River Road Plantations, Lafayette & Breaux Bridge and St Francisville. 

There is so much to do in this exciting city, Peter and I love the beauty, great food and unceasing music it has to bring. We know you will love it just as much as we do, thank you for joining and celebrating with us!!
