Our Wedding

*This is one of Dane and Amy's first photos together!* Dane and Amy met on Hinge during the height of COVID-19 in April of 2020. Both knew early on that their connection was something special. The two shared the same sense of humor, held equal family values, and had dreams of building a successful future for themselves. After two months of texting every day and sharing a few facetime calls, Dane and Amy finally met in person for their first date in June of 2020. They enjoyed an outdoor picnic which included only the finest foods: chicken nuggets and red wine.

*A shot from Dane and Amy's first trip to Fort Lauderdale* Dane and Amy made it official in July of 2020, and began the journey of falling in love. They got to know each other’s family and friends, inspired one another to make leaps in their careers, and even planned their first vacation together to Fort Lauderdale, FL for the Spring of 2021.

*A photo of Luna (L) and Leo (R)* Soon after they started dating, Dane began to capture the hearts of Amy’s family cats, Leo and Luna. (They could sense he was a keeper!) Dane grew up with a dog, but it didn’t take long for Amy to transform him into a full-blown cat lover. She was lucky enough to have some added help from Dane’s twin brother, Justin, and his wife Ashley, who have two adorable cats of their own.

*Bean as a kitten enjoying her cat tree!* Just one year after moving into his apartment in Bloomfield, NJ, Dane adopted his first cat, a sweet brown tabby named Bean. As Dane worked from home full time, the two quickly bonded, enjoying spending every day together. However, Bean wouldn’t have Dane all to herself for long, because just one month after her adoption, Amy moved in with Dane and his roommates.

*A shot of Amy and Dane from their first apartment* Moving in together was easily the best decision they ever made, and the two immediately got to work making their space feel like a home. However, it wasn’t long before Dane and Amy realized they wanted a place to call their own. So, after a year of fun-filled memories, Dane and Amy said good-bye to life with roommates and moved into an apartment made for two in August of 2022.

*A view from the couch in Amy and Dane's current apartment.* Together, Dane and Amy built up their new space and couldn’t imagine how life could get any better. They thought they had everything they wanted, but quickly realized something was missing…Once Dane started commuting to work again, Bean was left alone for a handful of days during the week. It was clear she needed someone to keep her company, so the hunt for cat #2 went underway.

*A photo of Duncan (R) and his sisters Misty (L) and Eevee (M)* In November of 2022, Amy’s mom began fostering a litter of three kittens, 2 girls and 1 adorable little boy. The only male of the bunch was another tabby, who had tiny white paws and a face that resembled Bean’s. Dane and Amy fell in love with him right away, and after a bit of brainstorming, they came up with the perfect name: Duncan! And don’t worry, both of Duncan’s sisters got adopted as well, by none other than Amy’s two sisters, Christina and Cathy!

*The stunning beach view from Amy and Dane's hotel in Fort Lauderdale (Round 2!)* Now that their little family felt complete, there was only one thing left to do…Dane and Amy planned their second vacation to Fort Lauderdale for September of 2023. This destination already held sentimental value; It was the place they took their first vacation together as a couple! However, this tropical getaway would soon transform into a core memory.

*A shot from the beach, immediately after getting engaged!* On Friday, September 9th, 2023 Dane and Amy walked onto the beach to take photos and enjoy the beautiful sunset together. After a few selfies and some time spent gazing at the horizon, Dane got down on one knee and asked Amy to marry him. She happily said yes and shed a few tears, loving the feeling of a ring on her finger and the meaning it possessed.

*Celebratory champagne at Evelyn's Restaurant* The newly engaged couple received congrats and cheers from strangers on the beach who’d witnessed the proposal, and quickly shared the news with family and friends before heading off to a celebratory dinner at the Four Seasons. With some excellent champagne courtesy of Amy’s parents (thanks Mom and Dad!) Dane and Amy toasted to the next chapter of their lives as future husband and wife.

Dane and Amy will be married on May 17th, 2025 at Hackensack Golf Club surrounded by beloved family and friends.

Amy can best be described as a fabulous shining star (and yes I am writing this myself, what about it?) She is the middle child amongst her two sisters, Christina and Cathy, which means she’s just mildly a terror. Amy currently works as a Marketing Specialist and Graphic Designer in the pet industry and loves sharing the unique opportunities that comes with it. PLEASE ask Amy about her cats (children), Duncan and Bean, her favorite baked good recipes, and the best drinks to order at Starbucks.

Christina is Amy’s older sister and the two have know each other for Amy’s entire life. Being born less than two years apart, Christina and Amy were always close. The two sisters have bonded over Pokemon, taking amazing photos of each other during family vacations, and Amy inevitably saying something ridiculous that causes Christina to cry laughing at the dinner table. Christina is currently living in Pennsylvania and works at Vanguard as a Senior Cloud Architect. As Christina anything about her cats Milo and Misty, Pokemon/Gaming, and her next travel destination!

Christina Yakomin Hornbaker

Cathy is Amy’s younger sister and have known each other for Cathy’s entire life. Even though they butted heads as kids, the two sisters have grown closer than ever in adulthood. Cathy and Amy bonded over their shared love for anime, 2000’s pop-punk music, and re-watching the same 3 Barbie movies every time they get together. Cathy currently lives in Pennsylvania and works for Vanguard in the Technology Leadership Program. Ask Cathy anything about her cat Eevee, streaming Pokemon on Twitch (and having multiple sponsors??), and her digital artwork!

Ashley is the most recent addition to the Mrs. Martins crew, and Amy’s future sister-in-law! The two women met not long after Amy and Dane started dating and quickly bonded over a mutual love for cats, coffee, and plants. Ashley currently lives in Maryland with her husband, Justin Martins, Dane’s twin brother, and works in Accounting. Ask Ashley about her cats, Brent and Luigi, what it’s like hiking Mount Washington 4 times (she’s a BEAST), and her current book recommendations!

Melissa is Amy’s closest friend from high school. The two girls first bonded when they shared a room during their school’s summer trip to England, Ireland, and Wales. However, their friendship really began to blossom when they reconnected after freshman year of college, meeting up for coffee and bonding over various shared experiences. Melissa currently lives in New Jersey and works as a professional wedding photographer, co-owner of Sava Weddings (shameless plug for the bestie!) Ask Melissa anything about photography, her tattoos, and what music she’s listening to lately!

Justin is Dane's twin brother. The two grew up side-by-side, even sharing a room until they were 14 years old. While in school, Dane and Justin played Lacrosse and ran XC together. Although Justin was [slightly] better at the two sports, Dane's got the upper hand in their new competitive sport, Golf (Justin, 5 irons don't work well getting out of greenside bunkers, buddy).  Justin now lives in Maryland, with his wife, Ashley, who is in the bridal party!

Brendan is the youngest of the three Martins brothers. Surely, it wasn't easy growing up with two older twin brothers, but all three are the best friends anyone could ask for. Brendan and Dane share love for mountain biking, cats, and cooking. Brendan is an Audio Engineer. Ask him about his time touring with Phish,  his current music recommendations, or the new family cat, Dewey!

Keegan is one of Dane's best friends. They became friends in 2019, but the two grew much closer when they were roommates living in Bloomfield, NJ. Today, they are go-to golf partners on the course, but also on video games. Keegan lives in Jersey City, NJ, with his Fiancée, Courtney. Ask him about his time wrestling for NC State, his two dogs Hudson and Monte, his wedding in August, or the best pizza spots in Jersey City

Jon is one of Dane's best friends. Jon, Dane, and Justin have known each other since kindergarten. Jon is known for making us all laugh and being amazing at sports (Golf, Basketball, and Baseball).  Jon is also a go-to golf buddy of Dane's. Jon just finished his Master's degree at the University of Virginia, and is a teacher! He is also a proud UConn Alumni. Ask him about teaching, golf, or UConn basketball!
